It's well known that Hollyoaks is going five nights a week, and in a webchat last week, Darren Jeffries (OB) revealed it'll go 5 nights a week from November 3rd with a late night edition on Wednesday that will co-inside with the serial killer story coming to a close.

Does anyone know if these Wednesday editions will be in the regular slot, or will they all be late night specials (which I think would work rather well).

I don't know the answer but I'd be surprised if they kept the one late show a week on permenantly. The main problem is that they'll be reluctant to make it an "essential watch" in terms of following ongoing plotlines. If it does go permenant I suspect they'd do something like the rather lame "Moving On" series they did about 2 years ago, where some of the characters (Tony and Ruth spring to mind) took a bit of a break from the early evening show and were just in the late night version.

I'm glad the murder plotline will be wrapped up soon though, much as I like Hollyoaks (even though I'm about 10 years above their target audience Smile) one thing that irritates me about the storylining is that they are very keen on spinning out plots for months and months. The "Laura Mystery" springs instantly to mind. By the time that concluded everyone had long since lost interest!!

Sounds a bit like Brookside, they used to do this as well, take up to 12 months for a storyline to come to a climax!

Im not sure whether Hollyoaks going 5 nights is a good thing - I enjoy the show but always felt it was better 3 nights a week.

I think late night episodes are good though - the previous 2 we had back in 2000 were good but the 2001 spin off series Movin on wasnt very good apart from the last couple of episodes when it became interesting because of Ruth being beaten by Lewis and Lewis's suicide.

I think the reason C4 want Hollyoaks 5 nights is because we are losing Brookside the same week as it happenes

Now I barely watch Hollyoaks but why is that dreadful Tony still there? He is a bad actor and is just plain ugly. I prefer lovely people on my TV screen.

I agree about Tony - he is the only original cast member still there but ive never really taken to him? I preferred Hollyoaks when people like Kurt, Ollie, Ruth, Lucy etc were in it but its still good.

What did everyone think of the new students that were introduced tonight? I noticed one of them played that Pizza delivery bloke Liam in Corrie St.

I can't seem to remember very well but didn't Lewis die twice? Once in the late show and once the following day in the teatime show Confused:

IIRC Lewis was visited by Max and OB in the teatime episodes and then his death was in the late night episode. His funeral was shown on the teatime episodes I think but im not that sure as its been 2 years since that happened. I was never all that keen on Lewis myself, he showed himself to be the evil bully he was at the end - Ruth and Kurt were made for each other and they should never have split them up, and then when the killed Kurt off, they did it off screen, all we saw was Tony/Carol/Lucy/Ruth at his funeral

All Lewis did was hit Ruth, I remember when he beat her really badly at the end and I was thinking "Pleasssse dont die" cos she was my fave character ever in Hollyoaks. They could bring her back as her dad still runs the pub "The Dog in the Pond"

Thanks - it's been bugging me where I'd seen him before!

Surprised they've only introduced three new students - I thought there might be a few more with the show expanding and quite a few cast members leaving lately. There also seems to be a few new younger students in Craig Dean's class, and the website suggests a new family could be introduced soon.

One good think about Hollyoaks is it's setting allows for new characters to be introduced every September and most of them have a natural life span before moving on to Casualty or Holby City.

Ys its always nice to see the new students in Hollyoaks every september - apart from the early characters - Kurt, Ollie, Ruth, Jude etc my fave group of characters were those introduced from September 1999 - Anna, Geri, Alex, Nikki.

From what I remember they have introduced new students every September since 1999 when Hollyoaks went to 3 days a week

Sept 1999 - Anna, Geri, Sam, Nikki, Alex
Sept 2000 - Izzy, Laura
Sept 2001 - Nick, Jodie, Becca, Eve, Jamie
Sept 2002 - Kristian ?

I also heard that Izzy is coming back to the show soon- not sure about Chloe though. I also like the storyline with Becca becomming a teacher as that allows more storylines at the school. I also hope this serial killer storyline ends soon as its becomming too long and drawn out - Ellie finds out on Friday I think.

I think he must be. Mr Cunningham was in episode 1, he could be seen dropping off Dawn outside Maccie D's in Chester city centre... however it was a different actor to the one who plays him now. Does that count?!?
