The trucks have come off the highway.....

The new Coca-Cola advert looks through the years instead to a schmaltzy theme.

Coca Cola's 2006 Christmas TV advert launches in the UK on 24 November and features a digitally-enhanced Father Christmas.

"The greatest gift" was created by UK agency Mother with US film director Kerry Conran, director of Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. The ad follows a young girl who meets Father Christmas every year from the 1930s to the present day.

"Consumers tell us that Coca-Cola advertising signifies the beginning of Christmas for them so we wanted to create an ad that captured the spirit of Christmas and the optimism that embodies this special time of year," said Cathryn Sleight, the marketing director for Coca Cola GB.

In fairness, "Always Coca-Cola" has not been Coke's main advertising slogan for many years now. It seemed wierd how they always rolled it out again at Christmas.

...this was the best christmas advert idea ever!

The visuals in the new ad are fantastic, but sadly let down by the lack of any real audio.

Generally Coca-Cola have a new campaign most years, but the "Holidays are Coming" ads show up regardless in the few days before Christmas - and that's when you know Christmas is coming!

Is it me or does the advert look as though it is set in Amsterdam?? - The style of buildings, the bridges over the canals etc...

BTW it still has at least one van - near the start!!!!!

I like the new advert, and the music is soft and beautiful. Really captures the Christmas spirit just as much as the old advert did.

Just one query: since when could Santa skate properly?

By the way, here's a spoof advert with a longer version of the original music, if anybody wants to overlay it onto the current ad (I can't record sound for some reason).

Yes, you knew Christmas was coming because they were singing 'Holidays are coming'! Rolling Eyes

That's what i thought. Don't they usually have both adverts air? The traditional 'Holidays are Coming' and the new advert created for that year. I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure the 'Holidays Are Coming' advert hasn't been the only Christmas campaign Coca Cola has had in recent years.

Anyway, it's a very nice advert but there's no real jingle or tune or anything. It's rather quiet.

Sorry if I am half asleep, but where can I see the new advert?
