I am starting this thread approximatly 35 mins before the new series starts on BBC One, now lets make predictions about wether the music has changed and wether the whole series is now like CASUAL+Y.

Feel free to Post i will start a poll on the new look if it happens once the episode starts.

Why the + sign in the titles? Casual+y, Holby Ci+y, it looks so flipping naff!

Surely it's dumbing down?

The + symbol is there for a reason. The universal symbol for health care is the +, a green cross.

Its a very stylish logo and has meaning.

That's as maybe, it's still cheesy, cliched and naff!

Katherine - I'd be interested to know why putting a + in the title is 'dumbing down'!!

Well, it doesn't really enhance the programme's content. It's a needless gimmick. Quite a few people have complained about the theme music too. Saying it's too 'soapy'.

I didn't like the + when Casualty first put it on, but now I find it OK.

Agreed, but London's Burning has never had 'stylish' sequences, only the more recent series' have even come close. The first eight or so cut straight to the introductory scene and had white on black credits. Watching the repeats (on G Plus) it still looks good (IMHO).

also - it establishes the connection between Casualty and its spin-off. There should be more spin-offs.

I'd like to see more of that Corrie spin-off with Vicky's wine-bar in Brighton, it had Bette in it looking glam, a surefire winner. It could be a sort of ITV Hollyoaks, they could put it on ITV2 and I'm sure it would get viewers (ITV2 could do with some of them) And they could have crossover storylines - everyone loves them!

Hmm What else.....

All of you are right -as i have been told it's like this

In the UK + is used to denote medical aid

Abroad the * is used for the same, but with a snake/stick symbol (derived from the greek god of healing whose name escapes me at the mo)

The ambulance drivers, if you look carefully enough, have the star on their uniforms which only came around in the past decade as the EU wanted foreign visitors to understand it. However, the + sign was kept for pharmacies and surgeries, which has now also spread across to the continent.

So + medical in UK
* (and snake) medical as well in UK and Europe

+ Pharmacies in Europe

I hope that's cleared it up

thanks,
James

PS- i like the new Casualty music - but the story lines are a tad lame and the aussie gets on my nerves!
