BBC is axing police drama Holby Blue, due to drop in ratings, bu tI never show it half the time, and in scotland it got DUMPED anywhere half the time and also ended up at 9pm, NO great lose I say

I don;t see a thread about this

Quote:
The BBC has dropped Holby Blue, a spin-off programme to long-running medical series Holby City.

The police drama, which starred Footballers' Wives actress Zoe Lucker and former EastEnder Kacey Ainsworth, made its debut in May 2007.

The second series began with 5.6m viewers in March but by the end of May, the audience had dropped to 2.5m.

Holby Blue was written and directed by Tony Jordan, whose credits include Life on Mars, Hustle and EastEnders.

Despite the decline in ratings, the drama had "set new standards for 8 pm dramas in terms of production values, storytelling and casting", according to Claire Phillips from producer Red Planet.

And she said she hoped other shows made by her company would "live up to those high standards set out on Holby Blue".

The first series had a consistant Tuesday 8pm slot, the 2nd series Thursday 8pm. Excluding Scotland obviously

Funny how I did exactly what the article said everyone else did. I watched the first series then, after watching half the second, stopped as it bored me.

Never did get into Holby Blue. Surprised it didnt do better in the ratings tho considering Holby City is such a success.

I stopped watching Holby Blue half way through the second episode as it seemed, already, complete different to the episode which was epic. The second episode was just dull and boring, pretending that it had already secured its viewers and lasted a decade.

It was ridiculous television, TBH. One particular scene saw a policeman hushing a policewoman into a cupboard to have gratuitous sex in the middle of the day - despite the fact there was meant to be a (implausible) case being handled.

I can't imagine the earth moved for the two lovers. The sign on the door said "Stationary Cupboard".

And that was Holby Blue .

Interesting that Holby City and Casualty are both in-house and quite successful. Holby Blue was an independent... Don't think it ever quite found its feet.

I'd agree with that assessment. I watched a couple of episodes, and it was vapid for me. Against fast-paced, well-acted, gritty and dramatic The Bill , it didn't do it for me.
