Hmmm...The Axeman Cometh Again?

According to reports, ITV's new Saturday night show only achieved an audience of 1.77 million viewers at 7.15pm on Saturday night.!

This is unbelievably poor! This is worse than Celebrity Wrestling, Judgment Day, Scream If You Want To Get Off, The Block etc etc - all fomer ITV Saturday shows that have been axed due to poor ratings.

I can't see this lasting more than 2 weeks, or even being axed after the 1st show.

1.77 MILLION VIEWERS AT 7.15PM ON A SATURDAY NIGHT! Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

The Axeman Cometh I reckon. I can spot a damp squib when I see one and Rock Around The Block certainly isn't rocking for ITV and I'm not suprised!

well that's not surprising, it's possibly the worst time for the programme to go out, it's summer, people are outside plus multi channel tv as well has a significant impact i'm afraid.

Well I hadn't even heard of this programme, so it can't have been pushed very hard. A summer like the one we are enjoying will also have a major impact.

What's the show about, anyway?

And it's, "damp squib" (as in a small firework), Joe. You'd expect a squid to be damp, surely?

I have said damp squib above. Of course, I haven't edited my post. Laughing

With the sort of rubbish ITV are putting out at present I can see the testcard and tone getting more viewers. Beep.

I've never heard of it either, although I don't watch much ITV(ok I don't at all!) these days.

This is certainly interesting. What happens when ITV is just another digital channel when the analogue system gets turned off? I honestly wonder whether ITV will be around in 10 years time.

I don't think Judgement Day was that bad and it was only on once wasn't it?

I think it was on atleast twice.

Prehaps part of the problem is that ITV have been too willing to quickly axe a programme before it can gain popularity and a fan base. Not all programmes start off high in the ratings, and can take time to increase in popularity.

Not sure what point you are making, ITV1 were probably still the 2nd or 3rd most watched channel at that time and way in front of all the other digital channels.
The reason it got low viewers was because it was a hot evening in the middle of summer and everyone was out and about, not because people were watching other channels!

I saw a trailer for Rock Around The Block which was enough to make me steer well clear of ITV1 last night - I was in a pub beer garden anyway!

It's a combination of both poor, but the market that ITV are aiming at are simply not at home watching television, more likely they are outside looking for the birds. Wink
