It's a question but it involves presentation so I apolgise if it is in the wrong forum. I have Freeview in my room and every weekend I see The Hits and TMF showing similar programming. Examples include The Hits showing some Irish Countdown and TMF showing music picked from Boyzone (who are Irish), The Hits showing movie-related songs, and TMF showing a countdown of movie OSTs, and both channels showing 80s countdowns.

I would understand if they were the same company - but they're not. IIRC, TMF is an MTV channel, with The Hits owned by eMap. Surely there's a reason for both channels showing similarly-genred music at these times.. is there?

It's St. Patrick's weekend...?!

I see his point though - I flicked onto both TMF and The Hits about the same time the other day to see they were both playing the same song, it was a themed song as well...something from the 80s, Bonnie Tyler I think.

I do like it when Magic Radio (also EMAP run) amalgamates with The Hits like this afternoon however...soppy old power ballads! Laughing

EMAP used to be run by Fame Academy judge Richard Park - not sure he's still involved but he did a show on Magic sometime last year.

Anyway, I'm not sure why TMF have similar countdowns at the same time as The Hits, does seem a bit odd, unless of course its St Patricks Day or an event.

Since TMF hasn't been a proper music channel for years they've probably sacked anyone who has a clue about music. So they just look at Emap's schedules and copy them instead. I've not watched either channel on a regular basis for a couple of years now, E4Music win hands down. A full time C4 music channel can't come soon enough!

Agreed as soon as one of their +1 channels is replaced with a 4Music channel the better
