History of Soap Sets

after ages of looking found it- though I heard it was the Family affairs set. Really weird actually to see a small set just in the middle of what looks like an industrial site. lol

did find the shameless set as well but I don't know how to link to the actual view, (I know shameless isn't a soap but it does have a purpose built set)

apparently there was a soap in the 1970s and the outdoor set was built in the same spot as the eastenders set is now.

it's filmed on an industrial estate in wythensaw, between dalimore road and floats road, on google earth it's there but on bing maps it's not unless you use birds eye view whish is more up to date

well it gets your there on the map, just go onto birds eye view to see the set (click on aerial / birds eye)

Family Affairs' set was at the back of Sun Hill Police Station in Merton, South London.

funny seeing the façade stuck on the building of sun hill station to hide the rest of the 'real world'

has that always been the external location for the bill?

The actual nick is north of that on Windsor Avenue, the Family Affairs area was used in the 2008 terror attack eps and was blown up.

where was the night and day set then?

Night and Day was a real London street IIRC.

Although they blew it up on The Bill, the set is still standing with a few boarded up windows. They actually make a point of marketing the whole site (studio, ex-Family Affairs set and some of The Bill's other permanent sets) as Merton Studios.
