Yes I thought the ad was a bit cheap, what's with the monotonous voiceover at the end too?

I'm not the only one who didn't get the add. Not sure if it was trying to be ironic or not.

Are you all reading too much in to it?

It was just an advert for a programme starting on Friday using a song Friday in the lyrics.

I'm sure Saturday Night as performed by Whigfield was probably used for similar adverts back in the day too.

If the programme was aimed at the 'yoof' market I'd understand, and the voice over was just odd.

Newsnight has a Friday addition, but I wouldn't expect that song to be used on a trail for it.

Well, if you compare that advert to this more witty one from 10 years ago (from 16 seconds in)...



You can see how quality has changed.

Shirley it's just the unrelenting upbeatness/crapness of the song clashing with the well worn cynicism/caustic wit of a show going into its 303rd series?

There was one I liked a couple of years ago which mocked The Apprentice.

Does this programme really need to be heavily promoted with big, fancy promos though? I think it's got a big enough following that people just need to be told it's back. If anything a slide would be sufficient.

Appears the extended show has moved to BBC One & transmitting on Sundays after the Ten, according to the RT.

Dam it we'll never get to see it now in Scotland if that's the case

They have Dave in Scotland don't they? (admitly that'll be in the next decade) and the iPlayer?
