I see. So they will have to move forward or back some time, assuming they continue with this (interesting) series.

It would be good if they did carry on, but to let you know from the 1983/84 season The Big Match was pretty much Networked, although exceptions were made. ISTR prior to this The Big Match was also shown HTV aswell as LWT.

I recall TBM being broadcast whenever there wasn't a significant taped match in the region -- it'd be shown for a couple of weeks per season in the North East (generally when all three big NE teams were playing away IIRC).

Was always a bit strange because the CA would generally refer to it as "Shoot", then the LWT ident would appear Rolling Eyes Laughing

I wonder if The Big Match brand will be resurrected for the FA Cup next season - it was used last time ITV had the rights up until 2001.

For those interested, this week's programme features an early 80s LWT ribbon ident and accompanying endcap.

That's the norm for The Big Match, although recently ITV4 haven't sjown the LWT frontcap, but on this week's edition they had. Also on this week's edition you saw some state of the art graphics when the scores were displayed on-screen.

For some reason I really like the theme tune from The Big Match of this era, it's very catchy.
