I too caught one of his bulletins last night on News 24 - and he's such a breath of fresh air! It's really great at last to see someone on the channel who looks like he really enjoys what he's doing. Let's hope he's back for good!

OT: What's happened to Darren Bett? Haven't seen him for ages.

I'm sure Darren was on BBC World this morning. I was in a hurry, so I didn't pay too much attention, but I'm sure it was him.

Yes - him and Rob McElwee have been on there for a while now. At least it keeps him of BBC 1 bulletins!

I have not seen corbertt for over 3 years!, when i awoke this morning at the ungodly hour of 4.50am. i turned on the tv. to get some light in the room without awaking my partner. there he was smiling bending and filling the weather map with joy on N24. Shame it was raining outside. Though seeing corby it made my day.

That's all

FOR NOW!

Yes, it was brilliant to see Dan on News 24 overnights again, and also doing the regional weather at Breakfast time. He is absolutely the best weather presenter the BBC have at their disposal - why is he so underused?

just been on the www.bbc.co.uk/weather website and went into the forecasters profiles and Dan's profile has gone?????????????????? does this mean our weather viewing pleasure is over???????????????
Does this mean i've got to defect to sky weather and watch that bloke on sky news's weather who so intresting it like watching paint dry?????????????

bring back the Corbett, The weather will never be the same again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As he said in the last weather report in 2000

"Could that be the weather FOREVER." Crying or Very sad

I KNOW, I NOTICED THE SAME THING! I'm absolutely devastated, I don't know what I'm going to do without him.

In all seriousness, I believe he is/was the best weather forecaster the BBC have at their disposal. They should have kept hold of him - from previous communications with him it sounds like he would have been keen to stay.

It's a real shame.

I do actually have a little hope that Dan will be around for a little longer. For a start there's another of his forecasts on the BBC World link tonight, so he is still broadcasting at the moment.

In relation to the forecaster profiles, it looks like they've reorganised their profile index page. Many of the newer profiles are not there - for example John Hammond, Byron Chalcraft. I reckon they've just included an old list.

Also, if you go to their "forecasters over the years" section Dan's profile is listed, and it says he's been broadcasting with the BBC from 1997 to present - his name is also in bold type, like all the other "present" forecasters.

I think we shall have to wait and see. But I just hope that the BBC appreciate talent for a change and keep hold of him.

Sorry, he was on www.bbc.co.uk/weather world forecast on the 19th and 20th oct 2003

some of the quotes are genius

"as we go across the continent...(then a noise)joooop!"
"like spiraling its wheels in mud, that little fellow!"
"providing a good dumping of rain"

pure quality.

getting him on BBC 1's main weather. come on. you know it makes sense.

Thing is he now has the tedious task of doing the regional Breakfast weather [for those regions that take the N24 person] -- having to say broadly the same thing ten times or so for each little bit of England and Wales.

*slap on the wrist* i think you meant to say ...

i have to say jo farrow (is she the one with the BIG hair) annoys me for no reason.

i'd sack all the lame women presenters and employ beverly avis dakin - now she *is* fab
