Jim was a bit harsh tonight - but Brian did make something out of nothing I reckon. Shame Jim has been thrown out - just when it was getting interesting too!!!

I'm going to see Jim on tour later in the year so it'll be interesting to see what he has to say about his Hell's Kitchen experience during his show!

Bring back Jim Davidson's Generation Game - that's what I say! Laughing

That said, Jim Davidson is really not a very nice person in real life.

Why would ITV1 have 'standard Red Bee script' - it's not run by Red Bee...

I was about to ask the very same. I thought all ITV continuity came from LWT/South Bank/Upper Ground/London Studios/London Television Centre building?

RedBee only do BBC and UKTV channels to my knowledge?

Yep, ITV is played out by Thomson/Technicolour from the South Bank, but soon moving to Chiswick Park

I'm sure there are some people who, for whatever reason, would like to see smallpox making a comeback as well.

In both cases though, I feel the world has probably already suffered enough.

I think reality shows need to have 'bullying' now. Brian wants to be the Shilpa Shetti of Hell's Kitchen.

You moron. I take it your schooldays were (or are) a very happy time and no-one ever picked on you then - in which case you were damn lucky.

Sadly, it does seem to be the way that bullying is increasingly being used as entertainment, with ITV the worst offender. The CBB debacle was inevitable - C4 knew exactly what would happen putting a cultured Indian actress in with Jade Goody and her mum - and C4 were glib enough to think they could get away with it. Now, in typical reality TV "casting", we have Brian Dowling placed with Jim Davidson and again the result could be seen coming.

Simon Cowell on the X Factor goes way beyond constructive criticism, and while Jeremy Kyle's schoolmaster approach was once refreshing and justified, these days he appears to have made his mind up about people already and on hearing the right "trigger words" doesn't allow them to get a word in edgeways.

Sort it out, ITV.

Well said tvarksouthwest

Considering that Jim Davidson went on HK to attempt to revive his career (it couldn't have been for the dosh as he was paid less than Abbie Clancy, according to the weekend newspapers) he has made a fool of himself.
Yes Brian made more of it but come on, the term shift-lifter and associated comments belong back in the 1980s when Mr Davidson was popular.

I used to like the Generation Game and with Jim Davidson hosting it - along with the other 'little man' Mr Edmonds, Davidson and Edmonds were to me, what made Saturday nights watchable in the mid-nineties *cringe* -but then again I was still a kid at the time. Similarly, Big Break was also good, but I think it was Virgo's trick shots that made that show.

Roll on 12 years and knowing now what a vile little man Jim Davidson is, its hard to believe that I actually found him entertaining. He argued of course that he can't adapt to this "PC" world - but then you don't go on a reality show like Hells Kitchen to try and revive your career I suppose. Still, Jim Davidson is Jim Davidson and he's not going to change his views for anyone...by making out he was a victim and that people didn't understand him, just made him look like a complete prat to be honest. Especially when you know his comedic genre.

As for the Generation Game returning...I think we're past that era now.

I don't see how my real life is realated to a television show but for your infomation, I got called a lot worse than Jim Davidson called Brian Dowling when I was at school. I'm sure we all did, or at least a lot worse than can be shown on ITV1 at 9pm.

Was that really bullying though? If you are going to call two people arguing on a reality show 'bullying' then I think the word loses some of its power when used by real victims of bullying who are bullied everyday of their lives without receiving an appearance fee. Thats all it really was, an arguement - Jim Davidson thought the term 'shirt lifter' was fine, Brian Dowling didn't.

Presumably, It could be seen coming by Jim Davidson, Brian Dowling and their agents too but they were happy to be part of it. Something that real victims of bully don't get a choice in.

Fantastic. I might start watching it proper now that vile little man is out of the kitchen. I do despise him and i hope he never darkens my TV screen ever again.

Oh and Noel Edmonds is also a vile little man. Don't ask me how i know, i just know. It's that intuition thing again.

Oh and Adele to win. I like that womans attitude to a challenge.
