Helen Young

Helen Young has just appeared on Call My Bluff... but why does she no longer present the Weather?

She went off to have a baby ages ago and never returned.

Is she now working behind the scenes full time, or has she left?

Dunno, she could still be on maternity leave. Raising her baby is a full time job, you know.

Some how I don't think she could be on maternity leave for this length of time. It's more than 6 months since she last graced our screens. Pity, I thought she was really good. There seems to be a new weather presenter join the BBC every month!

Shes the senior wether forcaster so maybe shes doing more work off camera to spend more time with her son/daughter?

I know for a fact that amongst the duties of Helen Young's job is to co-ordinate the regional BBC weather forecasters so that they're more or less agreeing on what the weather's going to be doing.

Yes I saw her on Call My Bluff, but when you are seinior forecaster you have more jobs, remember Bill Giles? He was the last one and he wasn't on screen that often.

Call My Bluff is pre-recorded. I think the current series are from 2000, so thats why she is on it.

I remember when she left - she said that she would be away for a year and I don't think it's been that long yet.

She presented Songs of Praise the other day with her baby didn't she?

I'd like to know what Helen is doing now as well - I interviewed her in August 2000 and she is really lovely and would be a welcome addition back on our screens imho.

I think she was on Newsround a few weeks ago talking about something meteorological so she's still in weather I think!

True. I don't suppose anyone noticed if it said © BBC MMI or MMII at the end of the programme - 1 for 2001 and 2 for 2002.

There doesn't seem to be a weather presenters section on BBC Weather, strangely enough.

Until this topic was started I totally forgot about her and her weather presenting. How could I?! We all know that Fiona Bruce was out of hospital so soon after having her baby. So why isn't Helen?
