This is one in a long list of the BBC's "what if" type programmes, on now.

Just wondering what people think of this - is it more FUD being spread by the BBC, or is it a sign of things to come in 2006?

Typical - we get a day of gorgeous weather, and BBC1 tries to make us feel bad about it... Wink

I was amazed by how big they made the heath fire look, using the real footage from the little fire by the Upton roundabout in Poole the other year.

I saw the first shots and thought "that's where I turn off to go to 'er-in-law's place", then realised they were using original footage edited in.

I'd only give the programme "average" on the whole. Some of their other scare programmes have been much better.

Nice to see again the bloke who played the hospital administrator in the early series of Casualty, though.

You would think with the amount of people complaining to the bbc about these what if programmes that they would stop encouraging nimby pimby producers to make this pile of drivel...

See that this time only 2 of the mocked news reports were full-screen, the rest along with the weather bulletins being a slanted camera-at-screen shot. For effect do you think, or as a result of complaints from people tuning in believing there to be a smallpox outbreak or a plane crash in West London?

are people really so stupid as to belive mock news stories? When the graphics etc are wrong anyway? Was it me or was the news studio with the old back drop?

On the subject of heatwaves, the Telegraph summed up the mood excellently this morning.
"Its a heatwave - Its Hot!"

You obviously weren't around when War of the Worlds went out on the radio.

Have a read of the history of when that went out and you'll realise just how stupid Joe Public can be.

The Times had HEATWAVE sprawled across the top of the front page today... but with the word SUMMER next to it... claiming that temperatures in Britain this July and August will be higher than average... with devastating effects.

Makes me laugh this does. Five days before Christmas and the Met Office always say "It's too early to say if we are to have a white Christmas" or they say "This is the five day forecast.....but of course it could change". Yet here we are in mid May and they reckon they know what the weather is going to be like in July! HOW!!!?

Ah, but they've got the new graphics starting Monday.

They'll make long range forecasting FAR easier!
