Heartless Dyke Cancels Animal Hospital

After 10 years of faithful service, the much loved Animal Hospital has been dropped from the schedule of BBC-1.

BBC1's Animal Hospital series has been dropped after 10 years on the nation's screens.

The news of the programme's demise is to be announced in the first show of the 19th series being broadcast on BBC1 tonight.

However, there will be a series of Animal Hospital specials next year, reports the Daily Mirror.

At its peak the show attracted 11 million viewers, but that has fallen to 5 million this year. However, the BBC says the decision is not related to ratings.

Rolf said: "We have had 10 wonderful years and although we would like to continue for ever, we feel the time has come to move on.

"The weekly show is very demanding and we have all decided it should stop after the current series."


Is it time for Rolf to move over to Granalton?

Let's hope that the show will not be replaced by yet another makeover show or woefully unfunny sitcom.....

Thank good Animal Hospital is going. I bet hardly anyone here watched it now. Yes, I did when I was younger and I'm sure we all did, but now, It’s just a silly time filler which does not interest me. Just like that Silly Vets in Practice. That got the chop ages ago right?

Animal Hospital lives on on UK Horizons so it's only gone from mainstream telly and not digital telly... Smile

Yes but it still lives on though in repeats. The Crystal Maze still lives on in repeats does it not?

It did indeed. I only ever saw one episode. It had some footage of rabbits which for some reason was accompanied by Stereolab's "Tone Burst (Country)". Most odd. I'd have used "International Coloring Contest" myself...
