The Health Lottery - It's like The National Lottery but..

with less prize money, less money going to good causes and more money going to Richard Desmond (September 2011)

That would be these guys http://www.ryo-catteau.com/Welcome.html but can't see a similar model to the one used last night. I would say it very slick and pre-recorded on both channels.

And for anyone who didn't see it, this will give you the idea.

One of the two broadcasts might have been on a time delay so technically it was still live on each channel.

Only if you completely redefine the word 'live'.

Judging by that YouTube video, I would guess at it being recorded. The balls appeared just as the director cut to the machine which as anyone who watches The National Lottery knows just doesn't happen. I suppose it had to be recorded really, they only had a minute to do the whole thing. I think they would have made a bigger deal if it were live too.

Did anyone see what was on Channel 5 at the same time?

All the 'PLAY HERE: THE HEALTH LOTTERY' signs reminds me of some lame Doctor Who villian's conspiracy.
Maybe it's because it is called 'The Health Lottery'.

That draw does look much too fluent to be a live, adjudicated lottery draw.

I was wondering too whether Melinda Messengers links were pre-recorded and it all just edited together.

What do you mean by adjudicated? Just because the draw seems to be recorded, doesn't mean that it wasn't a real draw watched over by whoever the terms and conditions and relevant laws say have to watch over it. It is no different from when the BBC record some of The National Lottery draws.

Speaking of The National Lottery, when does the current ridiculous BBC/Camelot contract that has the former pay the later end? Surely the BBC won't be able to renew it what with delivering quality first fresh in peoples minds.

Is that true? That's shocking!

Like somebody else mentioned, there was no official word from an on-screen adjudicator or even any word of one. It looked a bit like one of those late night bingo things.

The machine isn't from Ryo-Catteau who only makes 'gravity pick' machines but it's one made by WinTV-Editec. They talk about The Health Lottery on this page:

At the end of today's draw advert it said that from next week it will "exclusively on Channel 5".

Hopefully as a standalone programme and longer than one minute. Maybe even live?
