with less prize money, less money going to good causes and more money going to Richard Desmond (September 2011)

This is starting on Saturday to be aired on Channel 5 and ITV 1, I assume as a commercial presentation, it's to be hosted by that well known ambassador for healthy living Eamonn Holmes.

Some stuff about the lottery itself.

I wonder what the draw machines will be like, what the sets and what facilities they will use.

They're being paid it's an advert, it's just like them showing an ad for Argos, Fosters or William Hill.

I was a week ahead of myself when I first posted this as I thought it started last week.

Yes, he couldn't be on it as Ofcom had words as of course news readers can't appear on commercials which essentially is what it is.

Melinda Messenger was holding the fort tonight (excuse the pun).

Set kinda reminded me of 5 News.

I noticed that a draw master or an independent adjudicator was not present (or at least in sight), this could cause problems for the validity of the draw.

Was it on ITV/C5 at the same time then or did one have it first (it would be virtually impossible I'd have thought for C5 to time their breaks to coincide with The X Factor).

Probably off screen like Euromillions.

One of the two broadcasts might have been on a time delay so technically it was still live on each channel. Then again, it may have been pre recorded shortly before the broadcasts to take into account the time delay.

Does anyone know what type of draw machine was used? I know The National Lottery/Camelot use two SmartPlay Halogen II machines for the Thunderball draws and a SmartPlay Magnum II machine for the 'Lotto' draw.

Someone as sad as me. I think it's the French firm who's name escapes me who make the Euromillions machines.
