Out of the three HD channels which were scheduled to appear on the Sky EPG today only one of them has (Nat Geo HD on 593).
Sky Sports HD and Sky Box Office HD 1 have failed to materialise.
EPG changes normally tend to happen in the morning, so I don't think they are going to appear today. Does anyone know whether Sky are experiencing any problems which could account for the delay?
Anyone heard of a release date or price of the boxes?

Yes that's because Sky+ guys have the new EPG software, us paupers have to wait for this new EPG software
Speaking of updates, I thought there was going to be a re-shuffle of the channels a few days ago, and nothing happened on mine. Is it going ahead or not?

No HD channels were scheduled to launch today (Monday 6th). All three were scheduled to launch tomorrow (Tuesday 7th Feb). Nat Geo HD launched a day ahead of schedule. Sky Sports HD and Sky Box Office HD 1 should launch on the EPG tomorrow.
Artsworld HD, Disc HD, Sky Box Office HD 2 and Sky One HD are scheduled to launch Tuesday 14th Feb.
Surely standad digital TV was meant to offer stunning sharp pictures? At least that was before they turn the bit rates down to rediculous levels on some channels. How long will it be before this happens with High Definition.

No - just more consistently clear pictures than the variable performance of analogue.
They were never going to be sharper as the number of vertical scan lines was identical (625 total, 575/576 active), and the approximate horizontal resolution remained roughly the same (5-6MHz)
ITV have, of course, on DSat reduced their horizontal resolution so that it is lower than a good analogue signal though... This is particularly apparent when flipping between Freeview and DSat versions of ITV1 - and the new "small print" presentation graphics really look nasty on DSat as a result.

But the TV companies did try to pass digital off as having "superior" picture quality which was stretching the truth somewhat.
Mind, technically digital SD *is* superior to analogue (at its best), because it is broadcast in effectively component, rather than composite video, which does make quite a difference. Pity then that this is wasted due to overcompression in most cases.
