The first HD channels have appeared on the Sky EPG today:

Not sure whether they are actually planning to broadcast any HD films straight away (especially seeing as very few people have a box to receive them).

I'm wondering why they didn't call it Sky Movies 11 & 12 HD rather than duplicate 9 & 10 Shocked

Strange, 312 isn't appearing on my box (I haven't got EPG 4 yet by the way).

No SKY Movies 9 or 10 HD on my SKY + box and no EPG update yet too.

So has mine, yet my Sky+ box has all of them.

Why have they suddenly launched a SM 10?

Well Sky Movies is now allowed to show 12 and 15 rated films outside the Watershed, from 5.00pm onwards daily, albeit a PIN is required on pre-9.00pm screenings, but they're only doing this on Sky Movies 9 and the newly created Sky Movies 10.

Sky did announce for their Sky HD line-up that there would be two Sky Movies HD channels, so I presume these are the two.

Surely Sky HD Movies 1 & 2 would be a better name rather than slinging the HD channels at the end of the lineup?

The PIN Protection only works on a Sky box, it's completely bypassed via a non Sky box Laughing

They're simulcasting them in SD though - so there are both Sky Movies 10 and Sky Movies 10 HD, on 310 and 312 respectively, with Sky Moves 9 on 309, and Sky Movies 9 HD on 311.

I guess they don't want to "waste" HD showings on just HD viewers - and given the more limited availability of HD movies initially (for rights / cost reasons) they wouldn't want to alter the content of Sky Movies 1 and 2?

BTW - I think that only (some?) Sky + viewers can see 311 and 312 - probably the same receivers that have the new two page TV Guide, and Personal Planner on Green rather than 0.

Yes that's because Sky+ guys have the new EPG software, us paupers have to wait for this new EPG software Wink
