Don't Channel TV generally get involved with indie productions on ITV. Maybe that's why their testcard was used

If that's the case, why? As some sort of token gesture to prove they have a purpose as a remaining independant franchise holder? Not that I have anything against them, but I'm sure Avalon can make TV Burp without their assistance.

One of the ITV franchisees needs to oversee the compliance of indie productions (aka take the flack when things go pear shaped amd OFCOM step in). Channel take on this role for a number of programmes.
