Strange to launch with this episode though - you get the impression it was certainly recorded with the Xmas special, and really should have been broadcast over New Year.


Great stuff though as always - but just felt a little bit dated.


I was there, it was recorded a week before the Xmas special, and it seems that the Xmas special must have been very sparse, because not only did it run shorter than usual but there were 1 or 2 gags cut out of last night's episode and used in that instead.

The set is exactly the same as it's always been as far as I could tell, although it was done in a slightly smaller studio at Teddington than before (not sure how that would have made a difference on screen though).

Yes he said something about a look back over the last year, I wonder if this episode was supposed to have gone out when they repeated the Christmas one?


I don't think so, as at the end of the Christmas one, Harry said "We're back on 12 January" and this week he said "see you next week". It's possibe they were told there would be a new year special before ITV changed the schedule before the christmas scheduled were published and were already in production - with the corrie/dragons den sketches etc so decided to run this in the series proper. Wasn't an Ant and Dec christmas special schelved as well this year?
