According to Harry's website, TV Burp returns on Sat 21st January at 5.30pm, just like the last series. Now, we were all fed up last time when it was on at this time. Why don't they put it on during the week at 10.00pm or an earlier time of 8.30pm when more people would watch it?

ITV have always seemed to put this show out at stupid times - either too late or too early and it looks like this year will be no exception.

The reason for the bad time slot can be for many reasons (not just ITV's). The show is about what happened in the week so it needs to be made close to the broadcasting date as it would be pointless of him talking about programs last month which not that many people will remember. The show is recorded on a Thursday, they then need to edit the show and give it to ITV who then broadcast it when they have it sceduled for. Another problem could be the studio which may only be avalible on Thursdays and also the production company probably wanted it to be on at that time

Looking at the type of schedules ITV have there's no good slot for Harry Hill really. 10pm is available but Harry Hill is silly pre-watershed comedy so not exactly suitable. The same goes for post-11pm. Plus its not exactly mainstream, there would be some people who don't get it

Anyway we shouldn't complain, at least it's coming back, we could all tape it if it was on at 3.30am

Agreed! Very Happy

Great programme - a so very 'unique' kind of humour Very Happy
Yet it's so simple, and quite conventional. It's the perceptive observations that make it - it must have been quite difficult to pitch as a concept.

I never fail to be impressed with what they manage to dig out of the week's programming. They must just watch television 24-7. And even then to extract comedy from it, script it, and edit so quickly must be so difficult.
Very talented people.

Is he still getting work? Can't see how, he's not what I'd call a comedian, more like your sad uncle who recently went mentally retarded but your parents keep around as he's family.

Not a personal experience, just an analogy, continue.

Completely disagree. Harry Hill is one of the UK's cleverest comedians.

When you compare him to someone like Peter Kaye, who simply relies on the fact that he's a thick Northerner; or Jimmy Carr, who has sexual innuendo in every line; or Lee Evans, who falls over every two minutes - you start to appreciate HH's humour greatly.

His stand-up shows are extremely different to TV Burp - as I'd be pretty confident in assuming he probably doesn't even write the lines on Burp, however - even his delivery is excellent. His live shows though are something very special indeed!

I'm watching TV Burp done live on Jan 19th, so am very much looking forward to it!

My best recollection is from the C4 series he had during the 90s which wasn't that funny at all, he relies on the same hackneyed jokes as much as any other comedian you mention (though Lee Evans specifically isn't funny either). But that's what makes comedy great, it's very subjective and there's always somone who'll make you laugh.

Harry Hill makes me cringe in ways I never thought possible though and don't think much more of him than I do of Jim Davison or Roy Chubby Brown.

Sorry, completely disagree with you Nini. Harry Hill is a legend! I've never laughed so much at TV Burp.
