Comic Relief Live '05 was running very behind schedule throughout the evening - especially as BFBS1 didn't join till 7.30GMT because of technical problems. A lot of things were missing including:

> Ant & Dec
> Paul & Pauline Calf
> Regional Opt-Outs (BBC CI was ready for theirs as you can tell by the break box in the corner)

By the end of the night - the BBC said that the show was running around 73 mins behind schedule and that certain programmes after RND05 would be posponed. Hmmm... How can you put BBC News 24 on at a later date Confused:

Neither Ant & Dec nor Paul Calf were ever trailed at any point during the night though. I imagine Ant & Dec pulled out due to Dec's 'saturday night takeaway' motorbike accident and Steve coogan decided to do Alan Partridge instead.

There were no regional opt and there never have been for Comic Relief. If there were they'd be the last thing to be dropped.

FYI the BBC Press Release stated that Ant & Dec would be on the show and that Steve Coogan had recorded a special edition of Paul & Pauline Calf.

Also, regional opt-outs were trailed for the first time this year, as BBC Southampton, BBC CI, BBC Bristol, BBC Birmingham and BBC Glasgow all had studios set up for their own updates.

Apparantly Dec was injured in the week, during rehearsals for Ant v Dec, and his arm is in a sling. Perhaps explains their absence. He will be on Takeaway tonight though, apparantly.

Besides the listings they were never trailed to be on anyway, even before Dec's accident I'm sure their takeaway commitments would have meant they wouldn't appear

As others have said, theres never regional opt outs in Comic Relief. Children in Need is a BBC thing based around local radio presenters and fairly uncool items, Comic Relief is much bigger and better than that.

Well the BBCs TV listings had been saying that there was going to be a "Sheppard's Bush Tucker Trial" (may be typo) which presumably would have been what Ant and Dec would have done. Will be interesting to watch Saturday Night Takeaway to see what happens, as Ant v Dec is going to be rather limited if it takes place.

There's no way that they would have set up 4 regional opt-outs, which all the extra staff and production time/money required .... and thn drop them at the last minute

Comic Relief does exactly what it says on the tin. Its a comedian based fundraising event spawned around the matriachs such as Lenny Henry, Griff Rhys Jones, Jonathan Ross, Rowan Atkinson etc. Hence there are no Regional opt-outs or EastEnders/Corrie specials, or Terry Wogans like Children in Need.
