Can't get more iconic than this. The grand introduction, stunning title sequence, the live orchestra. Makes a refreshing change to anything that's on TV nowadays.

Seriously, to bring it back on topic...

Do you really feel this is a refreshing change to anything that's on TV nowadays?

Because this sort of over the top build up is basically what all of light entertainment has become in my eyes!

I think SITE's hype and build up etc is a lot more dignified than what The X Factor is. There was a Strictly sort of class to it. The fact The X Factor has to literally thrust every single word at you with Peter Dickson's voice shouting it is just stupid.

Indeed there's over the top and then there's X Factor over the top. It's just become a mockery these days.
Whereas I remember the excitement of the Live Finals of Stars, the makeovers and just the general air of class about it.

Just a shame it still can't be a Quay Street as most live programmes from there were top quality productions.
I just hope they don't go for an extremely different set, of course they could never lose the door and the smoke!

But I wasn't specifically referring to X Factor. There's Strictly, BGT (which is a lot tamer than XF) and until recently Dancing On Ice. I'm just saying it's not really a style of programming that has disappeared.

So the new series is going to be recorded in London then. That's a pity. I'd have thought they'd use the Dock10 studios at MediaCity UK since the show's original Granada studios are no longer available.

That logo looks really nice. Doesn't surprise me one bit that it's going to be London-based. Although it's only a run-through and I very much doubt the series will be based at Under The Bridge. It'll be a TLS job I reckon.

I don't think it matters anyway.

It'll be interesting to see how Harry Hill does on this. It's great that ITV are moving back towards entertainers rather than off the shelf presenters and I'm sure in the pre-recorded heats (assuming they stick with the original format) he'll be fine, but it'll be interesting to see how he manages the mechanics of the live final. I suspect he'll either be brilliant or it'll be car crash TV!

Although to be fair, even the final is very tightly structured, so shouldn't vary that much from the recorded heats.

I don't know how well Harry Hill is suited unless its having a radical overhaul. Yes its a light entertainment show, but its always been taken so seriously by the previous hosts. I think it will have a reboot of some sort. I wonder if they'll resist having a judging panel which all these kind of shows seem to have to have these days.

I disagree. The original series was always at Granada in Manchester, but since they're not available anymore, I don't see why they can't use the Dock10 studios at MediaCity UK for the new series. One of the studios there is big enough for major Saturday evening light entertainment shows. The Blind Auditions / Battle Rounds for The Voice (yes I know that's a BBC show) seems to be the only such show made there.. ITV only seems to do Mastermind, Countdown, University Challenge and a certain rubbish morning chav show there.

The only viable reasons I can think of for ITV not doing the new series of Stars In Their Eyes at MediaCity UK is that they were either fully booked on the dates they're planning to record it, or Harry Hill perhaps told them he didn't want to host the show up north.
(The former seems more likely than the latter.)

You seem to be working under the false assumption that ITV were going to do it up north by default. It's not as if the show had any significant connection to Manchester.

Granada produced the original but isn't the revival being produced by Endemol ( who own the rights) rather than ITV studios?
Endemol themselves have a long term deal with BBC studios and PP so I wouldn't be surprised to see it being recorded at Elstree like the Singer takes it all and Your face sounds familiar from the same team.

Not so much an assumption, more of a hope that they'd stick with the tradition of it being produced in the North West.

On your second point, Stars In Their Eyes did to some extent have a siginifcant connection to Manchester, as that's where the orignal series was produced for it's entire run. The voiceover in the opening titles always announced "From Granada, Manchester, it's Stars In Their Eyes!" Indeed the voiceover was also one of Granada's continuity announcers at the time. It would be nice if they'd at least considered doing the new series at MediaCity UK

I wouldn't be at all surprised if they rope Peter Dickson in to be the announcer.
