I was just a bit too young for Leslie Crowther's period of SITE, but the Matthew Kelly era was always that certain grandeur to it, managed to pull in large viewing figures, and for the live finals you had the added bonus of the orchestra...

This new incarnation though was just...eurgh.

Just a thought... Harry Hill's real name is Matthew Hall. So when the contestants mistakingly said "Tonight Matthew" they weren't that wrong...

Yes they were! If we're going by "real names", Matthew Kelly is David Allan Kelly.

The original version of the opening music was just absolutely brilliant, I caught the 1991 final on Challenge tonight and also noticed on YouTube that the 1991 Christmas special had the live orchestra. Was that the first the the orchestra was used?

In this sense isn't it more that TV Shows are 'not renewed' rather than being 'axed' especially after only one series?

Inevitable really. There was part of me hoping that they would do series 2 as a normal series but I think the damage had been done, it just didn't work at all.

Digital Spy says the same, citing The Sun. If it's in more than one paper, it's probably true. Good riddance.

Wish they had never brought it back and had left it buried. I remembered the show fondly and now after this train wreck I sadly won't remember it the same way.

Bringing it back with Harry Hill was an absolute mistake and it seems even they have realised that now.

Good, that version was a trainwreck.

Can't say I am surprised it is to be axed. No great loss.
