Apologies if posted elsewhere but Stars in Their Eyes got 2.5m / 11% share this week, compared to 3.6m / 16% share last week.

Not quite a 1.3 million loss as I had read, but it still lost nearly a third of its audience week-on-week. That's not great...

There was also a Lucy Gannon series called Blue Dove which I think was one of the first programmes on ITV3, and of course Bombshell with Zoe Lucker which was never broadcast at all...

I think Bombshell was axed for taste reasons rather than financial.

Stars in Their Eyes has flopped, they all want Matthew Kelly back for starters, other reasons are yet to be determined.

I preferred the second episode of Stars in their eyes. It's a nice mix of the old stars in their eyes with tv burp. I don't think it's helped being against the voice.

Harry did make a point of all of the comebacks, I wonder what it is about bringing back old shows at the moment.

Why can't I place judgement day? Are there any clips anywhere?

Stars in Their Eyes is being moved 30 minutes earlier to 6.30pm from Saturday 31st January. It basically swaps with clip show 'Planet's Got Talent' which moves to 7.30pm. Desperate times when a clip show becomes the centre of your Saturday night line-up. Saturday Night Takeaway can't start soon enough.

ITV being more reactive so far this month than they've been in recent years with Julia Bradbury's Tuesday night show also pulled after two episodes and replace with a Paul O'Grady series.

Entertainment wise though not much on the shelf they could parachute into the slot other than if they pull it together and rerun Harry Potter yet again!

ITV must wonder what they can use for this next big Saturday night programme. Both networks rely on the talent format whether it be the public (the voice, X factor, BGT) or celebrities (strictly, splash, doi, get your act together) or bringing back old ideas.

They might have had greater success with Stars in Their Eyes had they played it straight, with a different host and done it on a bigger scale. I think they've misjudged the audience with this comeback. I like HH, but I'd have preferred a new run of TV Burp.

As things stand they'd have been better off with another run of Splash.
Whataday and London Lite gave kudos

There is also an audience for Harry Hill to and I'm sure a format that would suit him much better.

Maybe there should go on a trip to EU, which there used to do back in the day, hence how we ended up with 321 and the gem game. Surly there are a few good formats?

What is missing from saturday night is House party type show, and action pack show.

This is a bit of a throwaway statement as Saturday Night Takeaway is coming back next month. The only thing they could do is stick Sunday Night at the Palladium on a Saturday night and change the format slightly but it wouldn't be 'edge of seat' style entertainment which is what the viewer craves these days. I'm sure there will be a new style gameshow in the coming years though. TV execs can't win either way though to be fair.

The whole Harry Hill hosting Stars in their Eyes situation has opened a new light that you can't blend two equally entertaining yet completely different formats together and I'm sure ITV will learn from this.

I'm guessing the aim is to avoid the schedule clash, which was putting Stars in the Eyes directly against The Voice. It never really made sense scheduling what is technically a singing contest against another singing contest. Presumably they're hoping that once those tune in they won't switch over to BBC1 at 7pm.
