It's odd because I don't remember it ever being axed, they just stopped making it for a while. It's long enough for it to be called a revival though.

How did Stars In Their Eyes work? Did they record in two stages, or was it recorded with ALL the people walking though the doors first then back to record again after a break and costume/makeup etc?
Saying that you could easily recorded 3 shows in one session.
Pretty sure the pre song interviews were block pre-rec'ed around 4 in the afternoon, minus the audience present. These were then played out later just before the performance to pick up the audience effects. Most contestants took around an hour to be fully made up.
I still can't watch the show without thinking of the withering review Private Eye did on the show.
"Several club singers who look nothing like the stars they are going perform as, go through the doors and come out looking nothing like the stars they are going to perform as..."

You have just ruined the entire programme for me. RUINED.

I remember this was mentioned on the Granada Studios Tour, and the guide said that both bits were filmed in front of the studio audience, and in the 45 minute break in between there would be a warm up, and something that sticks in mind is that he said the shots of the audience voting on their keypads were filmed during this gap too.
