Al Murray?

Hmm, could work ... if they change the setting to a pub with a telly, and change the name of the show, but keep the
basic format of recent TV clips with humourous commentary and skits. Although Al Murray's brand of humour as
the "Pub Landlord" might not be to everyone's taste, not everyone enjoys Harry Hill's silly surreal humour either.

Trouble is, the "Pub Landlord" character isn't totally suited for a family audience, so either Al Murray would have
to tone down the character somewhat, or the show would have to be moved up closer to the 9pm watershed.

Look at "In Bed With Me Dinner" - same basic format as TV Burp, but the humour was more adult, with occasional
strong language, and often typically aired at around 11pm ... albeit mainly on the Paramount Comedy Channel.

Am I the only one who thinks that this series should end when/if its host leaves? It's Harry Hill's TV Burp, not just TV Burp. This isn't like This Morning or The One Show.

I'm pretty sure that if they got anybody else to do this series, then their series would get substanially less viewing figures than at the moment and get cancelled pretty quickly.

Wholeheartedly agreed.

I was thinking of Al Murray the man rather than Al Murray the character.

Pro : Avalon face.
Con : Viewers might want a change from a bald man.

Pro : Probably quite cheap. Good at dancing.
Con : Would only feature clips from CBeebies. Could be legal problems if programmes are credited to B1, H2 etc rather then the actual channel name.

Pro : Dirt cheap to hire or free to good home. Would help TV Forum out. Has ability to make things up as he goes along - no need for scriptwriters or planning.
Con : Sarcasm (or something that's probably supposed to be sarcasm) goes too far/surreal on occasion. Might become a turnoff. Possibly mild irritant, treatable with AWOL on part of viewers which may lead to departure of the Burp.

Antony Worrall Thompson? Or is he too cheesy?

Al Murray seems the logical choice but you just know it'll probably end up hosted by Stephen Mulhern etc.

He might need a CRB check done first.

Indeed ... the show is all based around Harry Hill's slightly surreal, and very silly humourous reactions and mocking
towards the selected clips of that weeks soaps and reality TV trash. Only Harry Hill could host a show like TV Burp.

Although the basic format behind TV Burp, could be hosted by any popular comedian that doesn't rely on crude
humour and/or strong language to get laughs, as I suspect ITV would still want to keep the format as part of the
early Saturday evening schedule as a low cost lead in to shows like The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent.

(IIRC) When it was suggested about 3 years ago, that a topical news based version of TV Burp could be made,
and Harry Hill could host it for ITV1. Ultimately, that idea came to fruition over on BBC Three instead, hosted
by Russell Howard, a comedian who does rely on crude humour and strong language to get laughs.
