So refreshing watching the older series again on Cartoon Network. They're at the period where the BBC attempted to stop them using EastEnders clips - copyrighted as 2004 but I remember it as being earlier?

First 3-4serices the BBC refused, I think 2005 changed.

The episodes on CN are not exact episodes - they are sort of a mix of different episodes put together, child-friendly for the CN audience.

Didn't Harry do a sketch in a show where he went to the BBC to ask them if he could use Eastenders clips?

That sounds familiar, and another where he stole the tapes from Greg Dyke at his local kebab shop.

Yes, that was the final episode of the first series, in 2002, because I found it on an old tape a while back. He brought them a Twix and a bottle of cider in an attempt to change their mind.

The pilot of TV Burp in December 2001 was at 9.45, the first two series at 10.30 (in the autumn of 2002 and 2003), the third in early 2004 at eleven. After that it was at teatime. Of course the idea he might move to C4 is a funny one given he only ended up on ITV as C4 decided not to commission another series of his series there, and ITV were very brave to sign him up in the first place, C4 had gone right off him and regularly dumped him after eleven o'clock. And if C4 do sign him, another great example there of C4 "innovating" and "discovering new talent".

Harry Hill teams up with Alaister McGowan for new ITV show

This seems to suggest Harry isn't leaving ITV altogether after all.

Well, I don't think Harry is going to be in this show, I think he's going to be Script Editor or something, the only real connection is that it's an Avalon production. And he could still do that anyway, even if he didn't want to sign an exclusive contract with ITV he could still do shows for them.

I am looking forward to this show, though, Alistair is a brilliant impressionist and has a great knowledge of and love for sport, and we need a show that jokes about sport from an informed perspective, like Fantasy Football, rather than just a host of tedious Rooney Is Thick jokes.

On a TV Burp theme, I thought last week's TV Burp was the best one in a long while. I've always liked the show, but before last week's showing I'd formed the opinion that it wasn't as good as it used to be. But last week? Brilliant, and very much like TV Burp of old.

Last night's wasn't as good as last week's though, but there was some good stuff in it nevertheless.
You get the abject feeling, if it hadn't been splashed all over the media weeks ago, that the host is tired of the show, and has been for at least the last two series. This shows itself in the end result. Occasionally splash of genius but realistically it's a contract honouring exercise now.

According to The Sun, there's been a u-turn and it's not being axed after all.
