Why have I been refreshing this forum constantly for the last 3 hours, only interesperesereperd (i dont think thats really a word anymore) with visits to the Xbox forum............watching bid-up.tv and niw thats is finsished I need somrthing to watch, OGh look, cannel 4, how nice,

And a very happy new year to you all from me... I've only had a few ships of champers and I'm already starting to fall aslep! and these damn flashing christmas lights in our window aren't helping...
All was surprisingly quiet here in the rural North Devon countryside (mind you, it's peeing down outside so no wonder it's quiet!)
So by the looks of things 2004's got off to a good start for some with an outage at Sutton Coldfield, Telewest going down and power cuts in a few areas (was listening to the Mix Network non-stop new year party and they had a few messages reporting power cuts - didn't say where though)..
Nothing to report here in Devon.. no power cuts and the mobile networks managed to stay up (but are severely congested apparently)
So, another year gone, another year since we lost the greats such as TSW,TV-am,Thames,TVS and Oracle... . ahh memories!
Right, enough drithering blivel from me!

That's not far from the truth! She has been on some Journo courses, but yes she did come into News from the "Only a Presenter" route. Big M joined them just as it was being decreed by a new management that the News could not possibly be read with any credibility by a mere Presenter.
I've always felt that to be nonsense. The journalists who are brought in to read the bulletins now are, for the most part, reading copy written by other people. When they do a two way interview with the correspondent in the field, their questions have been planned in advance. There is nothing that Huw, Sophie and Co are doing now that isn't well within the grasp of a decent presenter with half a brain.

My predictions for 2004?
-Tony Blair will be constantly criticised but will still cling onto power because he's Tony Blair.
-ITV News at 10:30 will fail, and so News at Ten will be brought back again.
-ITV News Channel's viewing ratings will increase a lot and viewers will learn where to turn for Breaking News.
-Trevor McDonald will retire.
-America or Britain will be attacked.
-8 months after (could be 2005), Osama will be caught.
-Smoking will be banned in public.
-England will lose in the final of Euro 2004.
