Today marks 40 years of independent broadcasting in Cumbria, the South of Scotland and the Isle of Man by Border Television. Just thought that it should be mentioned.

No! Don't mention it - you'll only encourage them Smile

So I guess it's also happy 40th birthday to the Lookaround graphics, then? Wink

I notice the Border News titles feature a Border Van, complete with 'ITV' logo.

Can Border viewers expect to see this for years to come?

No. The ITV logo is out of date. Hope the news titles and endcap have been altered to match the main ident.

I've been told that the titles have been slightly modified so that the logo in the presenter background now has the '1' in it.

The BORDER itv logo is very much in evidence at the studios in Carlisle.

They've put up a sign with it on.

They're so proud of it, the cheesecake came with sprinklings of chocolate in the shape of the logo at the 40th birthday party.

They also had balloons with it on at the tables.

But does all this 40th birthday thing mean Border is the oldest ITV company (bearing in mind that most of the 50s lot - ABC, ATV, Rediffusion - are no longer on air)?

Nope:Granada was 40 in 1996.

Why aren't they celebrating their 45th birthday then?
