Perhaps they can do what LWT did on their closing night, and re-make their idents in Widescreen.
I believe they were done in Flash!
And there are countless Flash mocks of BBC2 Idents on the net, so why don't the beeb steal those
The LWT recreations were by Dave Jefferey, and I'm sure if the idents I've just seen in that BBC2 trailer are recreations, he's probably done them too. They did look a bit clean, but that could've been because I only just caught the trailer, and I was standing quite a way back from the TV. Gotta get that trailer on tape, it's one to collect and keep!
For those who want to kick themselves, the trailer was on BBC One at 11.20pm.
Very good too, shame about the stretched idents, but the promo makes good points about BBC2, though I don't think they should use the 'T W O' ident when refering to the 1990's.
I still have the 30th Anniversary trailer from 1994 on Video and it is far different than the one now, as that looks at the idents from the decades and the style of TV that you would watch them on, ie 1960's B/W TV, 1980's In a Cabinet, 1990's Black Widescreen TV.
That's a recording from analogue I'm afraid, but it's the highest quality Realvideo I could do. You need to sign in to the Private Parts for the link to work of course.
I've tried to un-squish the idents as much as I can in Photoshop. The pics are full-size, so you'll have to click the urls rather than me just posting them straight here.
