A very nice ident indeed, shame we couldn't have seen more of the older idents, but as Asa said it was better than a birthday cake ident.

Idents:

Colour 1967
Blade 1991
Stripe/ Double Line 1979
Powder 1992
Fluffy Dog 1993
'TWO' 1986
Colour 1967

I'm sure that Colour '67 and Stripe are both recreations, they seem too smooth and 'cleansed' from seeing both the promo and the ident.

I like it!

I'm pretty certain the Stripe ident was generated live using a bit of solid-state kit, rather than being played off tape or film, so it was quite a sharp image as I remember it at the time. Probably not the case for the 67 logo tho.

It was only when watching / listening again from Asa's download (thanks, Asa!) that I was sure that the current 2 music for Invisible Walls had been mixed with snippets of the old 2 'theme'. What I can't make out is whether there's any element of Stripy 2's fanfare. Anyone else spotted it?

Just to mention in issue 81 of Web User Magazine there is an article about BBC Two's birthday with a nice reference to the TV Room site.

I thought the stripey 2 was silent?

Gosh thats a wee blast from the past. If my memory serves though it was mostly silent.

You're right Gavin. It was mostly silent. The fanfare would be used at the start-up of programmes on BBC-2.

Surprised not to see any mention of the big boo-boo on Page 14/15 of the current Radio Times in this thread as it is still on-topic. Listing Monty Python as being born on BBC-2 in October 1969.
You must all be tooooo young here to remember that Python went to BBC-2 in October 1973. The first three series were heralded on BBC-1.
Anyway, Radio Times have been gracious enough to admit to the error and will apologise in the next issue. Shame they made that error though. It makes lists from the past more difficult to believe.

I thought the first series was on BBC2, and then the second and third series were on BBC1?
