Alright then,Heres my report for this mornings testcard apperance.

Yes,forget that dodgy cyclist PIF,the testcard is what we all wanted to see!

Wrekin transmitter area.

Yes,at long last its 3AM!Oh,TCW on Digital and TCW on analogue! We see that it changed to TCJ on analogue just after TCW appeared, the local transmitter,The Wrekin, was clearly being tested, with picture drop-outs,and genrally being quite fuzzy.Did you notice that the testcards were off centre? On my TV TCW looked as if it was more to the left of the screen, was this the reason of the test?Maybe, there is more evidence of the test to come!TCW on digital is not doing much,so i view TCJ being tested.Hmm,i wonder if Ceefax is being affected?Oh look!London`s South East News And TV Listings! In the Midlands!Wow,cool!(London live looks good to me!Wink )Yes,Could this mean they are doing hand-over tests?Relaying tests? They must be as the Ceefax broadcasts are being affected.Towards the end of the test,at 03:53 exacltly, the tests had stopped,TCW was once again on analogue, and the local Ceefax broadcasts had returned. At 03:59 exactly,we get a nice picture of the inside of the baloon saying that we can now go back to BBC News 24.And thats pretty much it for this mornings view of the testcard. The Ceefax broadcasts from London give us one of the reasons for the test.

Stu,tired:shock:

Err Stoo, why did you have to create a new thread on the same subject when there was one set up for the event that had already received many replies?

Please refrain from creating unnecessary threads in the future.

Cheers, Asa

OK, i'll change the topic a little.
What are testcards for? Do the tech staff do things when it's on?

I'm so dazed and confused!!!!!!

Testcards are used for testing an output signal from a certain source.

Thats why you see all those colours, lines, black to white strips and a standard picture in the centre.

Its just a simple way of being able to monitor output easily. My Dad would be better explaining this, he knows all about this and has a testcard generator. Smile

I'm sure one the technical bods from the BBC will enlighten us further on my very sketchy description. Smile
