So have STV and grampian a regular daytime schedule then? Or do they have to follow network?

A normal schedule suits me. Bank holiday telly is usually awful - not that I'm saying I'm a fan of that Spicer woman.

But why can't ITV/BBC1 show a family film in the morning slot, instead of property and makeover shows? Seems like some bright spark thinks this is a better way to serve the viewer.

As a matter of slight interest, which golf course have they been using for this tournament?
I usually hate golf, but this is quite amusing. Not that good though that Emmerdale is to be cut out of tonights schedule.

They're doing it from the Celtic Manor Resort, which is in Newport, Wales... and is the venue for the 2010 Ryder Cup.

On the subject of poor Bank Holiday TV, I agree it has been a bit pants today, but I guess we have to cater for those the other side of the wall who aren't on a Bank Holiday today (they're too impatient and had theirs at the beginning of August!) because I guess maybe they don't have enough suitable material to opt out with themselves... and it stops people complaining that the BBC is too England/London centric.

As for The One Show being on today, I was quite surprised about that...

Perhaps the fact that it's not a Bank Holiday in Scotland has something to do with it?

Do Scotland have an August Bank Holiday, or do they have another BH in lieu?

Scotland has 32 local council, in which those 32 council decide when LOCAL holiday will happen.

Right now all my local service are operating normal today,

Apart form the banks shut (English companies ) everything is normal the all school are open ( there went back last week)

(althourgh some council have hoilday on the same monday, plus the BIG hoilday monday is the start of the FAIR fortnight)

Even on the days when there a local public holiday half the thing are normal opening time anyway

Even WOSRE on some local holiday the school are still open

As I (sort of) said in my above post, Scotland has their August Bank Holiday at the beginning of August. I think it was on the 7th this year.

That's not the really issue here though is it - even TV companies aren't that PC enough to abandon "bank holiday" programming in favour of a more regular schedule so they don't offend the Scots!

There is no excuses for it really - especially from the BBC!

And the sad thing is the way TV is going it probably won't be long until Christmas TV goes the same way too!

Must admit I do miss the family movie in the mornings (something along the lines of Digby, the Biggest Dog in the World) and then the early evening showing of Bond movie and then the 8pm movie - and that was just ITV!!!!!

I know BBC did something similar and the used to have a 60 minute Disney show as well!!!!!

It's not the issue at all. If the BBC were planning today's schedule so as not to annoy the Scots, they wouldn't have scheduled 15 minutes of news followed by about 10 mins of Reporting Scotland

BBC Scotland should have been allowed to opt out of The ONE Show and show the full half hour edition of RS

Well the generic daytime schedules are already creeping in in the days between Christmas and New Year. The rot set in when they moved CBBC to BBC TWO and decided on scheduling Breakfast every morning. Then they realised they might as well show Cash in the Attic as well

I don't think that's quite true. Last Christmas they had Neighbours but no other daytime shows in between Xmas and New Year. For example this was the BBC1 schedule for Friday 30th December last year:
6.00 Breakfast
9.00 CBBC
10.55 Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron
12.10 Keeping Up Appearences Xmas Special
12.40 News
1.05 Neighbours
1.30 Cool Runnings
3.05 The Man in the Iron Mask
5.05 Hard Spell

Put The Telly On
Was Animal Park on yesterday?

Bank Holiday has changed, it almost annoyed me that Neighbours was on today. I suppose BBC1 did stick A Bugs Life on in the afternoon but even so. As for The One Show, I haven't seen much of it and know its a daily thing but it seems awkward.

The All*Star Golf Tourament was brilliant - an all-round entertaining reality show with a purpose, for a change.

that doesn't have anything to do with it. Banks just take any opportunity to close. They only open for about 10 minutes a day anyhow.
