I couldn't care less about the Pope, so I hope there's not too much disruption.

When queenie pops it you can guarantee that the UK will pretend to be patriotic once more, with every single tv station cutting gracefully to a news room, and then standing vigil outside of buck' house to ensure that she doesn't suddenly decide to not be dead for a bit.

I think the Diana issue is different as she died unexpectedly and in a far from normal manner.

I'd expect BBC 1 and 2 would have joint for a while but it would go back soon enough with a standard caption popping up now and again. I'm just hoping she waits a while - imagine her having to have her death reported with those ghastly graphics of News 24's. *shudder*

Personally I think TV goes totally over the top when a royal dies. It should be:

"Oh dear, the Queen has died. Ah well, we all die sometime. Back to Eastenders now."

Of course, if the Queen was stabbed to death that would be different and we'd never hear the end of it. Remember all the fuss that dominated the news for absolutely ages about the man that broke into William's party... we don't get rolling news coverage when my Grandma stubs her toe so this should be no different.

Re: The pope - he is not on the official Obit list, so it will be a bit of a low key affair, like what heppened when Princess Margaret died, just some coverage on the news channels as any old breaking news story and other TV/radio stations continue as normal.

I do hope Bishop Brennan takes over from him, far more interesting than another outdated propaganda clone to take over after he dies. The only exciting thing about him is the Pope-mobile, apart from that he's a waste of time.

The Queen will outlive us all anyway, she's never even been ill in her life -- what's that all about? She clearly knows something.

And of course, Bishop Brennan is of the firm belief that ITV1Wales should be called HTV.

Well of course Diana ripped up the Obit Procedures book and rewrote it - I think it will be 24 hours of nonstop sombre music and programmes of appreciation, at least.

Which is exactly why the monarchy should be disbanded. Supposedly, the UK is now an equal country (or at least is striving to be one). And a key part in causing that to happen was the abolition of the class structure (which was largely decided by money rather than anything else making it even more fickle and pointless than it was allready).

Yet the monarchy represents a remnant of that awful past - it's a group of people who by definition are superior and more important than everyone else.

It's an outdated concept which belongs in the past.

Even the reason for the monarchy's existance - to rule the country - doesn't exist any more with no member of the royal family having any usable power.

I stand firmly by my belief that when the present queen dies, the monarchy should die with it.

Didn't Channel 5 show 100% when Diana died, or am I mistaking that with something else?
