I beg your pardon? Did you spend all day writing that post?

If you were boring enough to look my name up, you've wasted your time. Do you really think I'm going to use my real name on an internet forum?

Well, er, no. As somebody who is 'medically trained', it took less than sixty seconds on the relevant sites. And your name - which the balance of probabilities suggests is real, incidently - is not all you've posted online. It's just fun to see you squirm.

Now this is turning into a right old ding dong so I'll pull up me chair and watch.

Joe.old son,he's got you running scared - you've got to come up with something really impressive now or we'll know you're a 14-year-old onanist with spots.

Now this isn't really the place to question the veracity of member's biographies.

I suggest someone should begin a thread called "Fantasists" on Metropol24/7, and it can all come out in the wash.

Disagree - this site needs a good scatter now and then.
C'mon Joe - you've gone awfully quiet.
Old Tilly has you by the short and curlies - you need to come out fighting.

But Mike Smith was good for them and spoke about their sensationaist report at the start of the show.

I hope he's alright. my mother dropped everything she was holding when i showed her the news (she's a big fan!). Af course there's going to be a huge joint enquiery with the BBC involved about the safety of the program. I hope they don't tone it down to 'fifth gear' style - the whole point of Top Gear is the exciting, adrenaline rush of driving fast cars and doing mad things (like setting caravans on fire and stuff Laughing ). I don't think they will ban the program - it's just too popular.

But even Fifth Gear has turned into a Top Gear (new style) type programme and in the next series there is actually going to be a race just like what Top Gear does. Top Gear has influenced so many programmes now, you'd need to tone down the industry itself!

What a piece of incredible tabloid reporting from ITV News tonight and, perhaps, Sky News as well right now. It's actually making me a bit angry. I am not surprised whatsoever - after all, it's the trend that on Day 1 you express grave concern and speculate on the worst case scenario; on Day 2 you find out what is to blame and, surprise surprise, it's a result of somebody or something else's massive failings.

Read "Richard has free will, probably relished the opportunity and knew of the dangers" as "The BBC encouraged their presenters to defy death" if you work for a broadcaster.

Credit to Mike Smith who made it perfectly clear that ITV News' angle was a desperate one at best.

Unfortunately we are now in that familiar situation where someone, somewhere will pay. Putting Richard's hopeful recovery and decisions about the show aside for the moment, I would not be surprised at all if Top Gear was pulled from the schedule as a direct result of the fallout.

There's not enough of Mike Smith on TV these days.

Health and Safety Execs will more than likely force Top Gear to tone down a lot more. I should think the presenting team won't be involved in testing extreme vehicles anymore and it will be totally down to specifically trained stunt men, racing drivers with years of experience. This all being said of course not knowing how much experience James May, Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond have with stunt driving.

ITV News of course spiced it up into a complete tabloid "Have stunts gone too far on TV" fest with clips of the Late Late Breakfast Show and Anthea Turner on UP2U and her hair catching fire. Complete dig at the BBC! Rolling Eyes

I notice they didn't show Ant & Dec abseiling down the London Studios Building, only this week. Rolling Eyes

Yes funny that or when Dec went flying off his motorbike for a stunt in the last series of Takeaway. It's just a fact that big stunts carry big risk.

Did you know that when Michael crawford was doing Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em that he didn't have one major accident, it's only when he was doing a show in Las Vegas that he did. It's all down to preparation, safety controls and a bit of luck as far as I'm concerned.
