Who's being naive, when there are idiots spouting off on this forum about totalitarianism and free speech?
Do you have affliations with ITV or BSkyB, Glorfingeredupthearse?
Judging from the way you have such a petty and bloody-minded attitude on this forum, it's obvious you are either one of the following:
1. Some arsewipe at ITV / BSkyB
2. Member of the Labour Party
3. Alistair Campells f*ck buddy.
The irony being you have displayed an attitude in one post many times worse than Glorfindel has in all posts - which in most cases I have agreed with so far.
Since we're in the ballpart, could I just make a public appeal to Glorfindel to click on the Quote button instead of making things pretty. It's like typing your posts in blue.
Will the BBC walkout escalate ? Perhaps into a one day stike. I think if the BBC was totally shutdown for a day it would show the government that this was seriously unpopular. And that they've seriously miscalculated,
That has entered my mind. It's unprecedented to see a company's staff demonstrate against the man at the top being sacked, I can't think of any other situation where that has happened.
I do wonder if this could escalate and result in the BBC's services being pulled in demonstration.
I am a bit disappointed that they have backed down in this way. I would have liked to see them hold firm and take the government to task over this.
I dont think there will be a strike because that will give the Goverment reason to attack the BBC more, although I can see why this course of action may be taken.
I think the public will support this move. Blair's position has already become untenable in my view.
Despite what some people have posted, no its isnt about consipricy theories and no its not the fact that we dont like the reports outcomes, I feel the report was far too one- sided, Blair should have been blamed, he chaired the meeting that leaked the Kelly name.
Hutton was wrong to omit the WMD debate from his findings, I thought that was the backbone to the whole argument.
This has all led to BBC in crisis over what the government initially caused, Blair is losing support despite what he said, HE should do the honrable thing and go.
Of course Fox is reporting on its website (in video no less) that it's "Paying the price for its blatent Anti-Americanism". Yes. Of course that's the issue.
I know I should have just believed it outright, since Fox News never ceases to amaze me in it's misplaced obsession with never questioning the US adminstration (under the guise of 'patriotism' of course), but I did have to check to believe that one.
But no, it is there: 'The BBC is forced to pay up for its blatant anti-Americanism'. When bollocks like this gets reported as news in the US, is it any wonder that, in general, Americans seem to have far too high an opinion of themselves?
EDIT: It's worth watching the video, where you can go on to hear reports of the BBC's 'frothing at mouth anti-Americanism' which was 'obsessive and wrong'. The twit making the statement believes that BBC has made a fool out of itself, clearly not seeing the irony of some obsessive prat blasting an organisation I doubt he has had any experience with on the grounds that it's 'anti American' before going on to blast people who claim that 'the brits are better at delivering the news than the americans with the flag on the lapel'. Why didn't he just put his hand on his heart and sing the anthem?
And this is the official considered opinion of the broadcaster which is 'fair and balanced'.
I try not to use this cliched phrase, but all I can say to that is 'bloody yanks'.
I respect Hutton's critism of the BBC. They did make mistakes, and have admitted this. But to merely say that Alastair Campbell was 'unhelpful' is a complete understatement. He had an obvious vendeta against the BBC had obviously got some kind of sadistic thrill from launching a completely over-the-top war against the corporation.
This is why I personally, and this remains the case from yesterday afternoon, I am..

I have just watched this and, jesus....I'm starting to feel sorry for the people being exposed to this tripe.

Indeed, I don't even think that COULD be broadcast here - it's a blatant opinion being reported as news. I always did watch the FNC for comedy value than anything else, but they've excelled themselves today, I haven't laughed so much in ages.
If America want any worldwide credibility (and dare I say, it respect) instead of the ridicule they are so often subject to (and I must, it is often unfair - the media isn't representative of the entire country) then they need to stop broadcasters from doing this sort of thing - that 'report' doesn't even qualify as analysis, it's just a flagwaving rant from a disillusioned idiot.
It's a real shame that American journalism is so crap, with the resources they have, American news sources could be the best in the world. CNN International (the only American news source I will believe) is a wonderful demonstration of what American news organisation can do. Why can't it all be like that? Are they afraid without constant flagwaving and a media constantly pledging it's allegiance to the USA's cause, that the country might collapse?
It's ironic that CNNi demonstrates what the American news could look like, few Americans have ever seen it, with many cable networks not carrying it and those that do only doing so at extra cost.
