It has just been announced Greg Dyke has resigned. More to follow.
I do think it's a shame as he has on the whole been good for the BBC. Who do you think the contenders for the position are - I remember Andrew Neil went for it last time.
I wonder what the odds on Andrew Gillingham getting the job are?
dyke makes a statement now, he says that gavins depature and now himself he wishes to draw a line under the affair, he is proud of the work he has done for the BBC and has always defended the BBC, he says it has been an unplesent and difficult time for the BBC, its up to government now. mistakes made by the BBC and thats life. the most important thing for the BBc is the people it serves. statement from greg dyke. just now on N24 and BBC 1
Yes, I think this is a shame. Many BBC staff remember how the Corporation was run under previous DGs, and I think generally people think it's been better since Greg arrived. Depending on who replaces him, thing could be a very bad thing for the BBC.
Fantastic moment on World as they crossed to the (appalling) pictures of Greg meeting the press...
Lyse Doucet says: "we're sorry about the quality of these pictures but you can probably just make out his bald head there!"
Things you can say the moment the boss is no longer the boss.
To ditto the above I think it's a real shame Greg is going.. the BBC seems so much stronger these days. Why didn't Sambrook resign? Aside from the criticism of the board, the main area of concern was clearly news policies!
Somehow News 24 and Sky ended up with the same camera...
I think Sky were taking News 24's feed for a while.
I don't think News 24 quite realised when they relaunched their new graphics that Sky's cover them up completely if they do a centre cut-out.
Of course I could be completely wrong, but normally when they share a clean feed, News 24's is more zoomed in since they're widescreenifying it. That wasn't the case this afternoon.
