Completly agree re: Danny and Susan.

Looks like Joseph is the first to blink then - they're moving to 6.45pm next week - though that's due to Eurovision I guess - they're back head to head the week after, though Grease has the head start.

Also, it's just the one show next week and the week after too.

Im glad its one show. I really preferred it that way tonight. Although I wonder how much of an effect this has on the result with only 7 minutes to vote rather that over an hour.

Ive not bothered with that Joseph show on BBC1.

Think you contradict yourself there don't you? Joseph HAD to move - it couldn't continue at 7.45 next week - unless it was only 15 mins long. Eurovision is almost always an 8pm start in the UK...

I guess the BBC had to decide whether to drop Dr Who or Joseph - but the weekly knock-out format of Joseph would suffer if it lost a week.

Saw a bit of Grease this evening - the lighting was appallingly flat and lifeless in comparison... (Joseph also benefits from being shot in HD)

Doesn't look like merging the two shows into one helped - it still got a pasting from Joseph.

Any Dream Will Do- 5.5m (28.2%)
Any Dream Will Do Results - 5.0m (23.2%)

Grease Is the Word- 3.9m (19.2%)

The low bit-rate from ITV on SKY alone makes this show unbearable to watch - the picture quality is dreadful never mind the contestants.

I love this programme, but then i just love Grease have done for years. I don't think it's a good idea for a predominately tv audience to pick a Danny and Sandy for the Theatre show as i bet not many of the voters of this show will buy a ticket to the westend to watch the show. If they was doing this show to make a new movie for television or cinema i'd go watch it i don't often go to the westend for a musical. I've only seen a live musical twice in my 36 years of wisdom.

Tv people and theatre people are so different.

I love Grease as well and I agree with what you are saying. Im unlikely to see this in the West End but if it was a film id definately watch it in the cinema.

So we had Summer Nights tonight then Smile I think the judges made the right decision, Michelle and Bradley were by far the better couple during the Summer Nights performance.

Glad my favourate couples Michael and Vicky & Danny and Susan are still in the contest.

Yep - Grease on ITV1 DSat (low bit rate 544x576) compared to Joseph on BBC HD DSat (1440x1080 at 19Mbs) is like night and day. However even comparing ITV1 on Freeview (which is higher resolution 720x576) with BBC One on Freeview (which is also 720x576 but a higher bit rate) the glossier and punchier lighting and more interesting set of Joseph sticks out a country mile.

Is it me or is Lord Lloyd-Webber making a big thing about "We're here to nurture not torture" in Joseph - emphasising the difference between the two shows? I think Joseph (like Maria) has a much warmer "feel good" feel compared to the Cowell stuff...

Yep.

Watched both last night. Firstly, re: Joseph - it's obvious Daniel is the chosen one - he ALWAYS has the leading role when they do a group performance.

Grease though was disatrous last night - even the judges now admit it was a mistake pairing up the Danny and Sandy's and I suspect we might see a change next week.

The voting was pathetic though - Danny & Lauren and Michael & Vikki were by far the worst performers, but they get through.

The two in the sing-off were the only pairs to actually do a "performance", rather than just sing a duet - and if the format continues this way it'll deserve them right to completly flop at the West End.

Michael & Vikki were good I thought. However Danny and Lauren really should have gone.

Thats the problem when they let the viewers vote to decide who wins these things, they dont always get it right!

As a lot of ITV's audience around that time seems to have the IQ of a cucumber, that's hardly surprising.

And what exactly is the IQ of a cucumber? I want proof! Wink
