Didn't they show this on NBC in the states?

A few things:

1. The "US Version" is a simliar idea, but it utilizes a simliar format to BBC's talent search for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat ("How Do I Solve a Problem like Maria?"). Also, it is credited to David Ian and BBC Worldwide.

2. ITV will be using a format simliar to, but not exactly like Maria due to BBC's owning of the rights to it. Both are created by David Ian though...

Anyone know how long they're dragging the auditions out for before we get to the decent stage - bootcamp!

In the opening Zoe (who appeared probably 3-4 times in total during the programme) said the show was opening in something like 12 weeks - so they can't be dragging it out too long.

I watched the repeat of this yesterday and enjoyed it much to my surprise.

There are 10 shows in total so I guess the live shows will start in 2-3 weeks time.

The final is on June 9th which is 8 weeks on Saturday meaning they will get through this very quickly.

There will be 8 Sandy's and 8 Danny's in the live shows, which assuming there will be 2 or 3 in the final show that will mean 6 or 7 live shows. So only a few weeks of auditions/boot camps before it goes live.

Well I'd say this is what will happen

Show 1, 2,3- Auditions
Show 4,5- Bootcamp
Show 6,7,8,9- Live Shows going from 16 to 6
Show 10- Final
PT
Put The Telly On
... Show 11: The Winner's Story
Show 12: David Gest meets John Travolta
Show 13: A repeat of Grease the Movie
Show 14: Grease the Movie - 30 years on.
Show 15: What ever happened to the cast of Grease?
Show 16: A repeat of Grease the Movie again...
Show 17: The Winner's Story
Show 18: Olivia Newton John in concert.
Show 19: Lets Get Physical! Guest starring, Mad Lizzie from TVAM.

Oh Sorry, I've started imagining ITV2s future schedule...*slaps wrist*.

Actually quite surprised that Grease didn't get an airing on ITV1 or ITV2 this weekend - then again, that might mean cancelling an episode of Daily Cooks or Loose Women - and we can't have that, can we!

I'd guess the first 3 shows will cover auditions then, with possibly just episode 4 covering the bootcamp (perhaps with two episodes on one night ala X Factor).

Then with eight Danny and Sandy's, that means they can eliminate one of each over the next five weeks leaving three for the final.

There is the fatal flaw in this format though - especially with Grease - of losing people who'd probably be ideal for the supporting roles. With the premise of the show it wouldn't be right to go and give them supporting roles if they haven't won the main part.

Hopefully for me anyhow the show will kick into gear when the audition stage is over - and the show focuses on the potential talent rather than the pointless wanabees. The success though ultimately lies with the judges more than the contestant - and from episode 1 they've got a long way to go!

Seems for the next two weeks at least Grease and Joseph are going head to head.

The audition stage of Grease ended tonight, with bootcamp next week in a 90-minute special and live shows the next week.

It's cheesy without being too cheesy. I'm loving it. I normally get bored of this type of carp after the auditions but i think Grease bootcamp could grab my attention for a week or 2 because they've got to master the art of doing 3 things at once.

What's concerning me is a potential overdose of David Gest. He's got his fly on the wall thingy coming out. As itv pointed out during every ad break. Mind you it's not as OTT as the Katie and Peter plug.

I thought before they are overdoing David Gest, but I agree its true that its not as OTT as the J & P promo.
I can't wait for next weeks show if its the bootcamps!
