I saw the news about Hammond today and just didn't react. I expect stupidity and backwards thinking from them now.

It was just joke I don't see what the problem. It's really is a pathetic thing to be bothered by. I imagine most gay men wouldn't have a problem with it.

I'm gay and it annoys me. It's childish and just stupid to say such daft things this day and age. Every time someone says "that's so gay" it makes me cringe and this is in the same context. It's like we're crippled with some disease. You don't hear "that's a straight thing to do" etc.

I'm gay and it doesn't annoy me. You don't have the monopoly on gay opinion.

Likewise you don't have the authority to claim that something's not offensive just because it doesn't offend you.

It certainly has the potential to offend on two levels. Firstly, it's reinforcing a stereotype of gay men. Secondly it's suggesting that for a straight man to be thought of as gay is bad. It smacks of a 'backs against the wall' mentality and while I'm by no means crazy about political correctness, to talk on these terms seems to me to be a step back.

Probably like me, you are very fortunate that this sort of language is like water off a duck's back. But a teenage boy in school, trying to come to terms with his sexuality? Less so.

They'd probably be pleased if the lad he fancies enjoys a 99.

Do we really need to have a national scandal anytime someone says something that might offend a small number in society. Who's to decide what's acceptable and what's not? Some gays aren't bothered some gays are. Who's to determined which group is in the right?

... and meanwhile TGT/Amazon gets lots of free publicity through all the faux outrage.

They're playing us all like violins.

Nailed it Mr ttt.
Nothing more than a 'planted' outrage incident, designed to gain a few more 'curious' viewers to The Grand Tour without more expensive billboard/bus side advertising..
..and like the anti-BBC press laboriously listing every minor incident when Clarkson was marshalling Top Gear, it actually was giving the show more publicity, and viewers. BBC Publicity just sat back and counted up the free newspaper column inches more easily than organized press releases would have.
