Granada Tonight looks like ABC 5 Boston!

Do you remember the recently changed titles for Granada Tonight and Granada News?

Well when surfing on the Gari Comunications website I found an exact replica of
the Granada Tonight / Granada News titles that just changed, but for a US
channel ABC 5 Boston - take a look!

click on Music Packages (on the piano)

then click on GCI Syndicated News Packages

then under the BIG BRASS Section click on the Camera Icon on the
IMAGE NEWS PACKAGE and see for yourself!

I can't believe, does anyone know any other examples of
news titles being copyed abroad?

Who copied who? ... they're pretty crap anyway!

Don't look at GariComm's site--you need to look at a graphics company that is actually out of Boston called One80.

Unfortunately, it's under construction at the moment, but they did do the graphics for WCVB Television in Boston (and all other Hearst-Argyle US stations for that matter), and, presumably, the old Granada News graphics.

Yeah, a few months ago the people at the Hearst-Argyle fan club were just talking about it. The theme WCVB's using, 'Image News,' fits right into the now-defunct Granada Tonight's open. I think Image News sounds much better than GT's theme.

I think it was the Hearst-Argyle stations in the States that first started using those graphics. I think it was either 1996 or 1998 (I'm leaning towards the former... mebbe Tristan can fill us in here.) BTW the H-A stations are now using different graphics.

And oh, I do have an open to WBAL '11 News' in Baltimore from 1998. WBAL's also owned by Hearst-Argyle, and used the same graphics as WCVB. You can check out that open at my news opens site.

I tried to do some screen captures of this video, but couldnt cos they wouldnt come out right. Basically this video DOES look somewhat like the old Granada News/Tonight Titles. The colors have been changed, and the music is completly different, but it does have the same aspects as the Granada titles.
