Is that Prenton i see on the sign? If it is cool i live there, i wont bother try to get the titles again at 6pm all just get alot of shots. Very Happy

Preston, surely? God, I never thought Granada Reports could get worse, yet they've actually exceeded all expectations and made it even more dire. It's enough to make you voluntarily watch North West Tonight.

Steady on now. Actually to be fair I've always chosen NWT over Granada if I've ever watched the north west news, it's Lucy I have issues with and was never fond of Wilson, so if Tony Morris can make me tune in now and again, fair enough -- the look of the programme so far certainly won't.

And Dave it is Preston, fitting in with the rest of the Lancashire towns and Salford. The other signpost had umm.. Wallasey, Heswall, Bidston, Birkenhead, Neston [all on the Wirral], and Chester. I think that portrays the coverage of their editorial patch quite accurately actually -- Granada don't like travelling far from home.

I don't like the titles too much and the CSO studio looks terrible IMO, but I love the music and I have a WAV File of the new music to upload so here it is, if you can't wait until lunchtime.

The font on that aston is the same one used by Calendar and on the purple endcaps. Genericism strikes again! Sad

To be honest I would rather have the Calendar look than this one, this just looks so tacky and the font for Granada News looks crap, if they want more people to watch it, then this will be unlikely, lets hope that the 6pm show lives up to expectations. Frankly this is as bad as the 1998 all purple look, as that looked too tacky again, but luckily that look only lasted ten months, I hope that these titles do disappear quickly. It's just a shame as they put alot of effort into the 2001 relaunch and I think that paid off rather well, but the look just dated quickly IMO. It's nice to see that they have kept the theme.

But to TVDragon, I am rather shocked that Warrington is not on titles.

And a CGI Runcorn Bridge, what the hell is that all about?!

Yes, I never really had a problem with the previous look at all, I couldn't really fault it. The astons are much worse now, comparing, and they are surely too high up as well [you'll notice on the actual programme]. The music isn't vastly different, hardly worth altering in fact.

Yes, Warrington should *definitely* have featured, I don't care how far away it realistically would be from a signpost in the Wirral. Why the Wirral? Ghastly place. In fact I had to look Bidston up on a search engine, I'd never heard of it -- it's a tiny place. Tut, do they have green skittles? Do people constantly die in their Hit Man and Her dodgy scally club? No.

As well as the bridge, there are two scenes from Blackpool, Jodrell Bank [at least that's Cheshire], and perhaps some more to come at 6pm. I don't like this at all in honesty, and I can see HTV doing something similar whenever they update their very aging look -- even Granada has changed twice in the time.

OK, I've not seen it on TV so maybe I can't really comment, but I will anyway. The titles look rather nice actually, from the pictures shown. I'm not keen on the CSO studio though, it just doesn't look right. I'll have to hear the music on TV before I make up my mind, but it seems alright. On the whole, it all seems a bit pointless really, the old look was nice enough and could have been adapted in a less dramatic way. Maybe just a new set or something, but hey ho.

Oh well, I've seen it now. Don't know what to say really - can I have a refund? The music sounds really rubbish, and the titles look like they've been done on the cheap, rather than like the rather splendid old ones. The CSO studio is awful - let's hope it doesn't get used often, they'd started to use the real studio a lot more in the last few weeks. I can only hope that Granada Reports at 6 is a lot better.

Things I do like: The astons are nice. Umm, that's about it really.

Well, I'm another one who's only seen it on here so far, but from the captures it doesn't look THAT bad.

I prefer the rather random colour palette over the previous green and beige, and the astons look a little fresher.

And knock Ms Meacock at your peril; she lives only 2 minutes from c@t Mansion.

Still, it surely can't be as bad as Anglia News, which I'll have to suffer for the next 3 years, come next week.
