I am a regular viewer of Granada New & Granada Reports and I am very much looking forward to the Re-Launch, which will be sometime in September.

I too have noticed the Introduction of Tony Morris on the Main Granada Reports Website He appears at the Top, with Lucy Meacock, Emily Knowles & Fred Talbot.

We will have to wait and see.

I too have set up a Granada Reports Website on my Site. Granada know about it and are pleased with it.

My Website is re-launched on Monday 1st September so please look out for it.

It'll be nice to see a new look to the programme and I hope that they ditch all the yellow! Though I do hope that they keep the music, one of the best themes for the programme in years, but obviously unlike some of Granada's other regions GR's look is one of the oldest and frankly with all the presenter changes it needs a new look, though how long can we see John Prescott being hit with an egg and a Green Godess Fire Engine driving, in the opening titles? Though I would rather have this look rather than the Granada Tonight look which lasted from 1998 until 2001, as that dated really quickly!

I see Tony Morris is joining the Granada Reports/News team but he will be on both BBC and ITV for a couple of months because he has just finished filming a series of Inside Out. I winder if he will continue to do Inside Out aswell as Granda Reports.

I didn't think Inside Out was all recorded before it was shown!

As mentioned earlier, Granada Reports was originally Re-Launched on Monday 1st October 2001.

Normally Granada Re-Launch around that time, they had a new-look in 1998 around that time.

I enjoy Granada Reports and always have done. I must say I like the main set which they use.

Somebody said the Calendar Look would be good, I say no. Even though I live in the Granada Region, I can pick up Yorkshire and HTV Wales. The new Calandar look is very similar to the BBC Corporate Look.

There isn't anything wrong with the BBC Corporate Look, but most of the Regions are similar.

We will have to wait and see what Granada do. They may keep things as they are and just change the Presenters.

It will be interesting to see what happens.

Talking about a Re-Launch, My Website www.benjaminfshatliff.com is back to normal again with a Special Granada Reports Feature.

It's an ...eclectic... site. One comment - the proportions on the photos seem to be wrong.

Granada Reports goes ‘back to basics’ to arrest decline

By Walé Azeez

Granada Reports is officially relaunched on Monday as the regional news programme for the North West battles to arrest a decline in viewing figures.

According to controller of programmes Kieron Collins, Granada Television has “taken the programme apart and put it back together again”.

“We’ve looked at every aspect of the programme, at what works and what doesn’t work and been informed by a lot of qualitative research. What we are trying to do with our relaunch is get back to basics — back to what the programme should be, which is a regional news magazine programme that incorporates both news and features.

“It’s not a straight hard agenda and it’s not endless, soft, skateboarding dog items. It’s a mixture of items for a very diverse region,” Collins said.

He added that Granada Reports needed more live and feature items. “We haven’t been out and about in the region as much as we need to. Fundamentally, viewers want to see their own locations on screen and that’s perfectly understandable.”

The final stage in the programme’s rejuvenation comes after splitting the news and current affairs editorship and the subsequent appointment of Cerys Griffiths as news editor. She was previously acting news editor. Former BBC presenter Tony Morris takes over as co-anchor — with Lucy Meacock — following the departure of Tony Wilson.

The bulletin has a new set, titles and graphics.

Granada has launched a large-scale poster campaign around the region to publicise the programme.

Collins conceded that the recent performance of Granada Reports “hasn’t been as good as we want it to be. There have been too many changes and not all of them for the right reasons or generating the kind of benefits that we would have liked.”

“Also, we’ve tended to stay in our studio too long, so we’re trying to change that. There used to be a very strong bond between regional news viewers and their regular news programme and that bond — if it hasn’t broken — has certainly been stretched beyond belief. We’ve lost a lot of traditional ITV viewers who frankly got frustrated by not quite knowing what the programme was.”

He refused to reveal the cost of the relaunch but said: “I’ve had as much as I need to make the changes I want. This scale of relaunch doesn’t come cheap.”

Well for those who watched the teatime bulletin of Granada News, there was a trailer for the new look, with all the presenters and behind the scenes and telling us how important the news is, it also added that it is now presented by Lucy Meacock and Tony Morris. But you saw the new logo at the end of the trailer and the logo looks disappointing, it's just the same as the current one really but with a tackier font, the arrow is no longer in a square, but the good news is that it looks like they have ditched all the yellow.
