Wahey, the forum has reappeared!

Anyway, the Granada Reports thread seems to have disappeared, so I have no idea what the general concensus is about the programme. I personally think it's great! I love the inclusion of that famous clip of John Prescott knacking that bloke in Rhyl in the opening titles, that always makes me chuckle!

The studio is nice- I knew there would be plasma screens! And it is so weird seeing Granada News with a desk! Fantastic Stuff.

The logo is clever as well. Shame about the lack of a regional ident, but what the hey, I'm sure one will appear sooner or later.

I totally agree Phil. It annoys me that some people dismiss Granada News as dreadful, but it actually is very good. The graphics in the past have been poor, but the programme quality has been excellent as far as I remember. The graphics and opening titles are good now, although I wish they would use the studio more for other news bulletins.

Does Granada use the studio or the desk for the lunchtime bulletin? Any Ideas?

As it happens, North Wales is actually part of the Granada region.

(One of my relatives used to live in North Wales, and you could only pick up HTV and S4C in the back bedroom on a portable, It was Granada and BBC North West which was watched)

I assume that folk in North Wales feel closer to Manchester and Liverpool, then they do to Cardiff and Swansea, because after all its like watching LWT in South Yorkshire, the distances involved!

My family have a caravan in Rhyl and it receives Granada/North West and Channel 4. You have to remember the majority of North Wales viewers don't speak Welsh (I'm guessing off experiance) so if they received HTV/Wales they would also receive S4C which isn't much good if you don't speak Welsh!! The Clwydian mountains also get in the way of the Moel-Y-Parc transmitter (Wales) so it is a clearer signal from the transmitter on the Wirral.
