The company's programme-making arm, Granada, is to be renamed ITV Production, with the director of drama, children's and arts, John Whiston, named acting head in place of Mr Shaps while a new director is recruited.

ITV will also be hiring for another new job created in today's restructure - director of ITV Worldwide, overseeing programme sales and international production.

So that's bye bye to "Granada XX" purple endcaps then? Everything just under the ITV Production banner.

What's a 'Third Party Production'?

ITV PLC don't seem to like to sit still for more than 5 minutes do they, they only introduced the new Granada G branding a short time ago.

Apart from on productions for other channels. So the irony is the Granada name will live on, but on the BBC / Channel 4 / Sky, but not ITV. Shocked

[The rebranding of Granada shows] was in response to work we did with advertisers. The feeling was that there was too much clutter at the end of programmes. Now it will just say 'ITV',

Surely the north west franchise will still be called Granada?

That's a good point, will current Granada Manchester Productions, such as Coronation Street become simply ITV Productions, an ITV Granada Production (and the same with the other regions) or an ITV Manchester Production?

It seems that as part of the shake-up, Charles Allen is relocating from the South Bank to Gray's Inn Road to take a more hands-on role.

Third Party production is a Granada Production for another channel.

e.g. Brainiac = A Granada Production for Sky One
University Challenge = A Granada Production for BBC

Bout time, it was about to happen eventually.
I was suprised when they actually chose to call its production arm "Granada productions", how silly is that. Granda production just feels like a lost child who lost its mother in the ITV rebrand.

AIUI they still use the HTV Cymru brand for S4C programmes.
