Is the new season of Where The Heart Is now credited as just plain Granada? Or is it "Granada Yorkshire" or something?

The previous season(s) carried a Meridian production caption (in purple GMG-ised style). I never understood that. Isn't the plot set in Yorkshire, or somewhere else northern? So why was it a Meridian production? Confused

Because Meridian made it?
There's no rule that a regional ITV station can only base dramas within their own region!

No but they usually do. e.g Corrie is made by Granada and set in the North, Emmerdale/Heartbeat/The Royal made by YTV and set in Yorkshire

If Meridian made it, why did production switch from Anglia?

This must have been a programme made by/for UNM as-was, and released for compliance purposes by Anglia.

Somewhat unrelated question:
A few years ago, I remember reading that united news and media designed a generic set of endcaps, idents etc for Meridian, Anglia and HTV, but for some reason or another it was never broadcast. Does anyone have any captures of this, or even remember anything about this? I really hope this isn't the product of my imagination!

If it was never broadcast, the chances are few people would have been able to capture it. I know there are a few examples of non-broadcasted idents ont the web, but I haven't heard of these ones. AFAIK, United remained fairly comitted to individual regional identity - maybe simply because any attempts they made to unify their branding weren't very good!

UNM used the endcaps, they were shown from about 1997 until Granada gobbled up UNM's ITV Stations. They were nothing exciting, just the 'un' logo with either the Anglia/Meridian/HTV logos printed underneath on a blue background.

I also believe that between 1998 and 1999 both Anglia and Meridian had the 'i t v' logo on the top left of their respective idents, though HTV never did. Also looking from sites such as TV Ark, again both Anglia and Meridian produced generic 'Spirits of...' promos, either for the East or South etc, again not recall of a HTV one.

Around 1998-2000, HTV used to cover up the ITV logo everywhere with its own. I even remember that ITV made a promo to celebrate 40 years of Corrie, and HTV edited it to remove any trace of ITV.

And that's what we want now!

Tyne Tees did the same thing in 1993, ie took the generic ITV trailers and put their own logo over the top of the ITV one, and most of the time faded out the "on ITV" bit at the end. Seeing as the ITV trailers were totally non-standard at the time, they had to alter the graphics each time, and some of them I recall were a bit of a mess.
