So Granada Plus isn't dead..........

Well in the Middle East it still exists, so who exactly runs this channel then, is it a Granada/Star TV joint operation?

Anyway here are the schedules, some top notch programmes on here, looks like Night and Day has found a good home!

Despite ITV trying ever so hard to forget that Night and Day ever existed, it amazes me to see it has been sold to so many counties. I know for a fact that its aired in Australia, New Zealand, Bulgaria to name a few, all of which show the programme far more respect than its original broadcaster! Not only have these countries aired the entire series, but they have actually started to repeat it, something I doubt will ever happen in this country thanks to ITV putting a 5 year hold on the rights being sold to other UK broadcasters!

If Granada can run this channel in the Middle East, then they should have been able to continue with Granada Plus here, it's so annoying to know that a channel like this exists but it's broadcasting in another continent.

Night and Day is probably one of the best things ITV have commissioned in the last few years - it's just a shame they tried to air it as a soap rather than a drama. It would have worked far better if it had aired in a weekly hour-long slot from the start!

I was going to mention this before as in Malta they have a cable channel called Granada UKTV.

i think they are trying get serious and compete with the beeb. they are trying to sell of the Plus TV and Men and Motors Strand. They ahve also got two new channels int he past 18 motnhths, itv 2 and itv 3 so everything will be channelled into these i think. shame i liked Granada Plus.

Two new channels in the past 18 months? ITV2 has been going since 1998, ITV3 was only half a new channel, with it being a direct replacement for Granada Plus, and didn't launch till last November.

ITV4 again is going to be half a new channel, with it being a replacement for Men&Motors.

I liked Granada Plus too, and personally I think ITV plc would deliver a better product if they stuck to making ITV2 a brilliant channel, rather than over-diversifying as they are doing now. It's just a 'me too' move from them - just because there is BBC1-4 they think there should be ITV1-4.

It reminds me of the Sunset Beach situation. It was a big success all over the World - except, unfortunately, America...
