Can't find a NorthWest Tonight thread to put this in, but apparently BBC Manchester had problems with its phones due to the fire.

I guess GMR would have had real fun doing a programme covering the problems, anyone know what they did?

I think all of Central Manchester has been affected by the Fire, the BT Place isn't too far from Granada either, so I believe they've both been affected. Though I am suprised this hasn't been on the National News, as over 100,000 have been left Phoneless. Though luckily Warrington isn't under Manchester's Exchange so we've been OK, but I would guess that one or two of the Forum's members have been left phoneless.

Gordon doesn't look too well there does he?
Though both BBC and Granada have been able to do the News in the same way.
Liked the way Tony Morris in a way described Jon Mitchell as a legend tonight, same with the Everton starts who were in that awful production, as soon as it ended we heard a 'Good Grief'

I apologise if I sounded threatening.

Why does there seem to be a need to be, shall we say, 'threatening' in your wording in respect of this thread, Mr Shatliff?

I didn't see all of it tonight (I was flicking between that and Scotland Today on the ITV NC) but I am certain they didn't mention it. But in a way it is quite embarassing for them, as she was one of the people behind the idea to redevelop the studios at Quay Street but as the BBC are likely to pull out of it due to Greg Dyke's departure then it has an even smaller chance of going ahead, as Charles Allen is still keen on the idea.
But some good News for Granada Reports, as I was looking at Media Guardian (The paper, not the online version) and according to that, since the revamp ratings have gone up 4%, doesn't sound much, but it's an improvement and ratings have now proved it.

I once took part in a section of Granada Reports called " Reports Back" which was in the mid-seventies. This was where 10 selected viewers had to comment of local tv programmes.
It was recorded in the afternoon and played out that same evening in the programme. " Reports Back " was chaired by Gordon Burns and the researcher was John Huntley ( who went on to present many Granada
Reports ).
As I was unable to get home in time to watch, I was invited to stay behind with Gordon and John and see it go out presented by Bob Greaves. It was quite an interesting day and I was well looked after.
