Yeah it was a bit mixed this week with Tony coming back Wednesday, Then like i said Lucy was off Friday again Also i have noticed when we first got the new look Lucy came back at 6.55 but now it seems to be Tony more. Laughing

I guess it altenates, as Lucy has been doing the 6.55 for over a week on straight, then I expect Tony will be doing the 6.55 for another week straight.

Granada Reports was funny last night, God knows how long they took to give away those Carling Cup tickets!

Anyone else noticed when they handover to the Weather, the presenters always say 'Thank You' or laugh, they never say 'Thank You Lucy and Tony', I know the Granada Weather isn't done live, but don't they know whos presenting, plus if they did that it looks more convincing to the viewer that the weather isn't coming from Leeds.

You can't beat the simple days when Fred read out the weather while a childrens picture is put up on screen.

I noticed that with Granada Weather, Granada share their presenters with YTV/TTTV/Border dont they? I understand until recently Granada didnt have an invision presenter, just a voice over?

On ITV Wales News the newsreaders hand over to the weather presenter just like on Granada Reports (and they name the weather presenter too) and the weather presenter sometimes says "Thank you Jon and Lucy" or whatever, although it isnt live.

Granada Tonight on Friday always used to go live to the Albert Dock for the weather on the floating map with fred.

I think it was much earlier on in the 1990s where Granada Tonight used to have a v/o and childs picture. Fred was dropped completely in 2001 when Granada Reports launched and therefore the newsreader used to read a forecast over different maps which imo were much better than the Leeds versions which replaced them.

"And i will say, What have we got for tonight" Yeah it was better with Fred doing the Weather but when i went back to Granada Reports they wanted it to look more pro i think so they dropped him. At one time they had Lucy or Tony do the weather then right after the program another weather from Leeds. When it all changed on the 2nd though they did not need this and it just now goes to Leeds in the program. It would be better i always think it would be better if Granada Reports was moved to the old "This Morning" studio in Liverpool which was empty again last time i looked. Then they could have Fred on the Map!

Then again now CiTV is on the move it would be a good space.

I hate to the bearer of bad news, but the last time I went to the Albert Dock, which was 2 years ago, the old This Morning studio is now a cafe! Though I think the map is still there but theres aload of gunk growing on it, proving that Granada have left it there for ages.

Though as I said Granada do have a building by the Albert Dock and there is currently an empty studio, since Shop! closed in 2002.

Up until 2002 it was only done by a V/O, when continuity came from Manchester then it was read by a continuity announcer, as was the News for some time too. But they closed and moved to YTV and Jon Mtchell read it out for some time. Then in 2002 when Granada introduced standard graphics across the GMG North and South regions, they brought in the presenters. Though Tyne Tees and Border usually opt out and have their own presenter, that being Bob Johnson.

I suppose its just safer to do it that way. For example Tony might suddenly become ill at 5.30pm or a change in the running order means Lucy hands over to the weather on her own. It would therefore look daft if Jo Blythe popped up and said "Thanks Tony"

Border don't have their own presenter, it used to be a voiceover with the former Lookaround presenter Gillian Fraser. Now it is just the same team from Leeds that do all the weather. I think Tynetees is the only region with its own presenter ( Meridian? ).

Granada weather has been much better now that they have a presenter. Kerrie Gosney is without doubt the best. Love the way she squints her eyes and says 'See ya soon' really quickly at the end! Debbie lindley is lovely too. I think she delivers the weather in a great way and its a treat to see her pop up every now and again. BTW why is Debbie only part time? She was full time at one point right? Oh and why does Debbie always hang off the edge of the screen? At least Kerrie, Jon and Jo stand where we can see all of them and not get a bit chopped off!

I noticed this week on Granada Reports we had only 1 presenter, Lucy, on Monday and Tuesday, then it was back to 2 presenters on Wednesday.

I thought you could not get Granada Jez? You've made it clear that you get HTV Wales/West and Westcountry regions only. Has Granada appeared like magic? Shocked

Actually I was at the Albert Dock last week, I went into a cafe not sure if it was *the* one when This Morning used to come from.

Yes I noticed Granada still have a studio/office but I think they only use it as an office for people from Granada News? The map on the water has also gone now.

I think Gemma Humphries is the regular Meridian presenter (can Meridian viewers confirm this?) When I was down south it was her mostly, with one of the national team (Martyn?) standing in for her. Also I think Carl Tyler left Meridian Weather, Gemma took over from him didnt she? He may turn up on occasions now and again though?
